1. Yeah, but is that technically not true?
I mean it's ridiculous that they would even think about slanting it suddenly as a quarterly number, but what they are saying isn't totally inaccurate is it?

17. No, it's both misleading and inaccurate.
The story up now is more accurate, but doesn't emphasize, imho, the problems our country has enough.

4. Well, is it 200,000 or 300,000?
Not only is it overall misleading, but they have 2 different numbers in the headline and the text right under the headline.

5. OMG is that for real?
I just clicked on msnbc.com and it says "modest payroll growth - in a BLOW to president Bush . . . "

WOW

Did they call the white house for the news and just put it up on their site without checking it out at all? And then have to correct it?

6. Not Only is The Number WAY Off,...
but the story was written around these numbers with the intent of licking GW's ass. Heads need to roll after this one. Pre-written stories strike again.

9. Redressing A Pig
Those who don't have a job today or are on the verge of losing theirs don't give a shit about what those numbers mean.

Now, let's wait for the "corrections" here. How many of these jobs are burger flipping ones, part-time jobs that used to be full-time positions and temporary jobs created by the government (or campaign) to prop up the numbers before the election.

This regime's "resevoir of good faith" long has been drained on this topic and I expect these numbers to be "revised" or "corrected" by next week (obviously not in time for the debates).

11. 300,000 jobs last quarter..............
150,000 jobs a month are needed to just break even due to attrition etc. That would mean that in the last quarter 450,000 jobs would need to be created to just break even, meaning that in the last quarter there was a NET LOSS of 150,000 jobs.
God damn these cable and internet media outlets. They wouldn't know the truth if it crawled up it's ass and came out their mouth.
Of course they're just following the lead of our Chimp in Chief. Lying, distorting and never telling the people the ACTUAL TRUTH!!

12. 200,000 Jobs In Three Months...
If the American economy only created 66,500 jobs a month that would not be enough to keep up with population growth ....

Unemployment would soon reach double digit levels...

That's just plain economics...

Boy.

2 different numbers.

Pre-written story.

Now it's a QUARTERLY number (with the August revision, THAT isn't even true).

Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 08:10 AM by DemocratSinceBirth
If you are flat out ignorant you would think the 300,000 is a good number...

Maybe someone with at least an I Q of 100 figured out the number sucked and ordered it pulled...

20. GOP's favorite jobs report, the household survey, shows 585000 jobs lost
Household Jobs show disaster-labor force drops 1 million, job loss of 585K

The GOP's favorite DOL jobs number, the Household survey number, shows bigger Job disaster than shown in the anemic 96,000 jobs gain in the payroll survey jobs number. The Household Survey reports 201,000 lost jobs in September since 139,681,000 were "seasonal adjusted" employed in Aug less 139,480,000 of Seasonal adjusted folks Employed in Sept., and that is a drop of 201,000 jobs. If you prefer numbers that are not seasonally adjusted, then 140,226,000 less 139,641,000, or 585,000 jobs were lost in Sept.

And that Steady 5.4% Unemployment rate is based on folks no longer being in the labor pool and therefore not counted as unemployed. The seasonal adjusted change is from 147,704,000 looking for work or employed in August to 147,483,000 looking for work or employed in Sept, or 221,000 folks dropped out. If you like non-seasonally adjusted numbers, then 148,166,000 less 147,186,000, or a huge 980,000 folks stopped looking for work or being employed in Sept.

NEARLY ONE MILLION FOLKS STOPPED LOOKING FOR WORK OR BEING EMPLOYED IN SEPTEMBER!!!!

21. Outrageous!
Though they have now corrected the numbers, the fact that they ever published the bogus story is beyond belief. I just wrote them and told them it was shameful of them to be so lazy and just sit there letting Karl Rove feed them the news!!!

I'm sure Bush is going to use this tonite, "They just said on the news, blah blah blah..."
Kerry needs to hit him on the inaccuracies of this.
