Relax everyone - NO WAY Kerry loses tonight

Pure and simple - Bush is literally too stupid to pull it off. Kerry had his number the first time, and believe me he's got it for tonight too.

Think of all the arrows Kerry still has in the quiver - Bin Laden dead or alive vs. I don't think much about him, Kay/Bremer, etc. comments about WMD's, newest job numbers, Cheney's series of lies about "connections", Edwards, etc. - the list goes on. Then of course there is the guaranteed-to-set-him-off "you know, your father would have..." line. Kerry has so many buttons he can push it's like playtime in an elevator.

The press can't spin it - Bush was a fool the first time - he'll look even worse this time. He'll be a child ranting against a statesman, and the audience will see it. The Kerry folks know all too well of Gore 2000 - the lessons were learned in the first debate. Kerry will be short, concise, and lethal. The Death By 1000 Cuts will continue, and Bush will be reduced, as Cheney was, to spewing bile. Unlike Cheney, he's not bright enough to do it right.

Kerry knows what's coming - we here should see that - and the beating he is about to lay on Daddy's Spoiled Brat will seal the deal.

60/40 money says there will be no 3rd debate.

1. "60/40 money says there will be no 3rd debate."
If there isn't then Kerry wins.
Shrub would be pounded in the press as a the chicken he really is.

6. the chimp will NEVER be pounded by the press
If he decides not to show up they will present "national security reasons that they can't tell us right now"

20. 3rd debate if Bush flops, none if he does OK?
If he's a train wreck again, the 3rd debate is his last chance to correct the perception that, head-to-head with Kerry, he loses. But if he doesn't wet himself (yes, the bar is that low), he and his presstitutes will call it a draw or a win and he'll walk away (busy presidentin'). That's my prediction. Don't know if that would help him (skipping the 3rd debate, I mean), because I firmly believe that those who've given up on Bush aren't going back.

5. expectations are high for GWB, low for Kerry
All the pundits are saying that GWB is warm and charming in the town hall format, and Kerry has difficulty connecting w people.

But KERRY does really well in town halls. . . . . . .

8. That's right -- "This is where the Preznit really shines! It's his venue!"
"He's so likeable, so personable, so warm! He connects, he resonates, he charms! He does so well in these forums!"

Except he hasn't done any of these forums. He's done fan-club events.

7. Expectations Are HIGHER For Bush Now
He NEEDS a DECISIVE win, not just an improvement over last time. The pressure is on him BIG TIME to PROVE he's competent and in control. He needs to SOUNDLY DEFEAT Kerry like Kerry defeated him or it's OVER.

3. It is unbecoming and counterproductive to be overconfident
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 09:03 AM by emulatorloo
Kerry could have lost his voice, had a bad night w no sleep, broken his leg, etc etc.

Punditry could call it for Bush no matter what, and newsprograms could show only strong decisive Bush clips and summarize Kerry as stiff boring ineffectual weak patrician etc etc.

However, that being said . . . . . .***************KERRY ROCKS AT TOWN HALLS************and so far the "conventional wisdom" of the punditry is that he is horrible at it and Bush is the master. . . .so I am cautiously yet enthusiastically optimistic.

4. Plus the Media Has Now Silently Crowned Kerry
the winner of the first debate. First, it was a tie. Then, Kerry won but it may not effect the polls. Now, Kerry's going into the second debate with momentum as the clear winner of the first.

9. You're probably right BUT
I still want to see a 3rd debate. Since it deals with domestic issues and tons of people vote with their wallet.

11. Beware the questions. Each one will include a little insult to Sen. Kerry
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 09:15 AM by w4rma
and a little buttkissing for Bush. Beware Bush's blatant lies. Will Sen. Kerry get a chance to rebute them? Beware the neo-con moderator who has been given the job to filter the questions.

Also, this audience selection process looks condusive to fraudulent "leaners".

And remember that Rupert Murdock is *still* handling *all* the camera work at this debate.

12. Chimpo Clearly Is At A Disadvantage

This town hall forum format definitely favors Kerry. However, watch the Smirk resort to the "terra, terra, terra" schtick early and often. What else does he have? He wants Americans to think there is a terrorist hiding behind every bush (pun intended), so that we all live in a fog of fear and irrationality. Which, incidentally, is what al-Qaeda wants as well.

However, Kerry should challenge Smirk head-on with his multiple failures, compare him to his Dad, compare him to Jeb, anything to get the asshole out of his comfort zone with the "terra" thing, get him off message and watch the little worm melt down on national TV.

14. "George Bush should resign"
Kerry needs to really hold Bush to the fire tonight, and he can do it right from the start. This is the best idea I've heard so far:

John Kerry can win the debate and the election tonight by opening with the four most obvious words in global politics today:
"George Bush must resign."

The confirmations that Bush lied about Saddam's non-existent ties to Al Quida, 9/11 and Weapons of Mass Destruction mean one
vital thing above all: this administration can no longer conduct a credible foreign policy. Not in the next four years, four months
or four days.

16. WRONG. Kerry loses if Bush surpasses expectations. And he will.
The bar has been set so low for *, there's no way he can't jump over it.

Mark my words- the narrative after tonight's debate: "Bush's strong performance stops the bleeding, solidifies his support."

And we all know that's impossible. The first face he makes in disgust or anger, he's dead.
