Do you think Kerry surrogates scan this board....
and look for ideas/strategy?

I like to think so.

Certainly the power of the "blogger" has been making the news this election.

DU is a great source of constructive feedback. Ideas for attack and defensive strategy litter the place.

Hey Kerry surrogate!! Yeah you....tell Kerry he's doing great and don't change a thing! I don't think he needs us to tell him how to hit Bush tonight....it's been a terrible week for Bush on a whole mess of issues!

Maybe we should have a "Advice for Kerry" forum area???
It could have rules like no vanity BS or comedic advice....only geniune constructive advice you believe will help him bring this thing home.

2. I know for a fact they do
The signal-to-noise ratio is extreme, and they don't have a lot of time, but it does happen. That large thread we had about Kerry debate prep, for one example, made the rounds in the campaign.

5. Cool
I know what you mean about "signal to noise ratio".

What do you think about a dedicated area for Kerry advice threads with strict rules about fluff?

7. I doubt the admins will want to build and moderate a whole new forum
for 25 days.

19. I don't know the technical details
but if you read the Ask the Admins forum, the guys get about ten thousand good requests for diferent forums. In all the time I've been here, they've only started two new ones: This one and the Lounge. I assume there's a reason for that.

17. Maybe not but they could pin a thread at the top of GD - Campaign 2004
The Kerry Forum has one but they filter out a lot of controversial stuff (like all my Bush-Nazi info that I think serves the truth VERY well but people are scared to peep about it)

8. I know they do. I had a campaign volunteer acknowledge it.
I called the campaign once and said something to the effect that "I know that someone on the campaign is aware of what is discussed on DU and one way or another these discussions make their way into Senator Kerry's ear" and the volunteer acknowledged that with a simple "yes."

So whatever it's worth, the campaign knows about DU, and if this web site is uncovering truth and lies and everything else in between in support of Senator Kerry's efforts, they would be foolish NOT to know about it.

9. could be collective conscious, two weeks ago
kerry hit a couple shows and i heard him say things that were exact what was on this board. i think they do peruse to get a feel and are willing to collect ideas. and it appears that kerry has decided after the swift boat to do it his way, and not what all are telling him to do, which i personally love and think is the only way to go. i am confident in kerry, kerry is confident in kerry, but yes, i think they do peruse the board

11. More Probing Questions...
Does a bear shit in the woods?
Is the Pope Catholic?
Is Grant burried in Grant's tomb?

Ya think Terry McAuliffe, Mary Beth Cahill & Bob Shrum don't know about us? Guess that's why they were so shocked  when so many DU'ers "freeped" the polls in the past two debates.

I know this campaign has been frustrating to some, but this is a long grind and this campaign has weathered many storms and is as strong today as it's ever been. That's testimony to both the campaign and to its supports...US! No question, if Kerry wins, this is one every member of DU should be proud of and feel they did contribute.

If anything, DU has shown the party the Internet can be a valuable tool (kudos to Howard Dean in finding a way to get the ball rolling) and the growing number of members here demonstrates a rising tide in the national political dynamic.

There are a couple points where I could sense this site was giving a lot of advice (solicited and otherwise) and I could see it work its way into the campaign...or our most blatant example...when "Dem Strategist" showed up. Who he or she is doesn't matter to me, and if he/she still reads or posts also is of no consequence. What was interesting, and surely the campaign had to be watching this...was the passion of the responses and how strong the support for the candidate was.

Hopefully we've learned the key to winning elections is getting our own shit together and motivating the base that has been spreading the word, getting new people registered and now on the offensive. This happened when the campaign saw there was this strong level of support and how passionate many of us are.

Talk to any Democratic candidate...they not only know about DU, they give a very special smile when you say you're a member. Be proud, you done good!

12. Elizabeth Edwards referred to DU in her blog a few weeks ago
and I doubt if it were her children reading it.

Mighta been the Kerry kids or an aid --- but she purposefully dropped the DU name (in a statement about how good Jon Stewart is) in her blog)

It was very exciting to me.

Chris Heinz too was here for a while during the primaries.
