As I posted on DU very shortly after the debate, this "global test" thing was going to become the next meme from BushCo and it's media lapdogs.
I also posted that the Kerry camp should be making it perfectly clear what Kerry ACTUALLY said.... and that was that if we made a pre-emptive attack we would need to make sure it meets the global test so we can prove that what we DID was the right thing. DID...as in past tense. Which is in stark contrast to what the Boy King did...went ahead KNOWING we had no proof to back up our so-called motives.
He was clearly saying, "Look....if the world is questioning our plans for pre-emptive strikes, but we go ahead and launch one anyway, we just need to KNOW that we'll HAVE THE PROOF after the fact so the rest of world can then confidently fall in behind us."
WHY IS NOBODY FROM THE KERRY CAMP MAKING THIS IMPORTANT DISTINCTION AND SHOVING IT BACK DOWN THEIR ROVIAN THROATS!??? Arrggghhhhh!

Don't watch the debate tonight then. I'll give anyone here 5 to 1 the words "global test" come out of Bush's mouth tonight.

We have never needed UN approval to defend America
John Kerry just wants a real coalition in world affairs like the US always did before GW Bush

If he did, he would realize that the term "global test," as Kerry used it, is exactly analgous to Jefferson's "When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation."
"Global test" = "Decent respect to the opinions of mankind"
Except, the neoclowns despise and disdain the "opinions of mankind." Their version of America's relationship to the rest of the world is, "We rule, you follow."
But I doubt most Americans think that way. And Kerry's point in the debate really was very clear, if you read his entire statement. If only the media scum would not simply permit Bush to belch forth his filthy lies as if it's simply a matter of reporting neutrally without any comment what each side says. Kerry says something, Bush lies about it, but hey, we gave them each 30 seconds, so that's fair and balanced.
