I don't understand those "Security Moms." They're either complete idiots or getting a nice hefty paycheck to say they'd prefer an emotional 10 year old to decide foreign policy. Hey Moms, do you feel safer with an idiot in charge, calling the leader of one of our staunchest allies a "jackass"?

I'm not a mom, but I'd rather have someone in charge who has diplomatic know-how, who won't bomb first and ask questions later.

John Kerry sure looks like the best choice to me (and many others, judging from some of the letters in my KANSAS newspaper).

2. As I said in another thread.......
This whole Security Mom thing is a Rovian Red Herring...

Ask any mom out there whether she's more concerned about

1. terrorism in her schools

2. the possibility her Kids will wind up in Iraq.

what is she gonna choose?

or

1. terrorism in her schools

2. Whether she can afford healthcare for her children

what is she gonna choose?

or

1. terrorism in her schools

2. the price of everything right now.

what is she gonna choose.

there are no freakin' Security moms. i'll bet money on it.

I was thinking about it last night....typical Old COnservative Whie Male idea of what women would probably be afraid of.

We're weak and need to be protected. Bullshit. They are preying on fears we women don't really have.

5. Is that what they're talking about?
Terrorism in the schools? Well, hell, then - why don't they have a bunch of minority moms in Oakland banded together and called security moms? On any given day of the year, their kids are in far more danger than these white, middle class moms' kids will ever be in their entire lives.

I find it so insulting that these pampered women are portrayed as deathly afraid when poor women have been living for generations with the fear that their children will be cut down by gang violence, by random shootings and by the police who are supposed to be protecting us. Not to mention killed in senseless, needless wars!

8. This is why they issued a warning to schools today to be
alert because the "chattering" is about attacking schools - the morning of the debate seems suspicious to me. Acts of desperation to scare us all into voting for the manly man Bush, yeah, right. I hate these people.

3. I'm a Mom!

And.. guess what? I have never felt less secure in America in my life! The spin is that we should cherish Bush because we "haven't been hit again since 9/11, so Bush has kept us safe!". Problem is, for me.. as a parent, is that we ALL know that the planning for that attack took years. Worldwide terrorism is going crazy right now... since Bush took office. Iraq is a terrorist hellhole now. I feel MUCH less safe with Bush in charge.

BUT.. even beyond all that.. The odds of being killed in a terrorist attack in America, even AFTER 9/11, are miniscule compared to the odds of having your family destroyed by outsourcing, layoffs, health care crisis, loss of health insurance, etc.

4. The way I see it, the main threat today isn't terrorism.
It's the failed poilicies of the current administration.
