Wondering if it has been picked up even as reporting the speculation on any major sites or by the AP.

1. What is the real story with this?
Does he really wear one? Wouldn't Kerry be all over this? I don't get it.

2. Rove won't let them discuss it

because if they discuss it, everyone will be looking for the earpiece during the debate.

Daddy Rove doesn't want that!
The whores have their marching orders.

If they discuss the earpiece story, Bush is toast.

4. So do you think it is true?
And if we are talking about it, wouldn't someone in the Kerry camp know about it and look into it?

10. Hell yes! No one from the Bush campaign
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 02:30 PM by goclark
has told me that it is NOT true.

No one from the Kerry campaign has told me that it is not true.

So, until they do, I think this is compelling discussion.

There are at least 8 threads that have links, complete discussions on this.

Just do a search for Bush and ear piece.

6. I have to admit

I thought the ear piece thing was silly speculation, especially considering how poorly Bush did, but I have yet to hear an explanation for what that bulge is. There's obviously something there...what is it? Just tell us. How hard can this be?

What's more, I watched a video of the "voice" from W's appearance in France - you can see part of it at the beggining of this clip: http://www.canofun.com/blog/videos/BushAndTheOddSync.wmv - and I also can't figure out what that is. I'd never heard of this before and was pretty surprised. If it was some sort of technical echo it would seem it would come after Bush speaks, not before. I know audio equipment and satellites and the rest can do very bizarre things, so perhaps there's a technical explanation there, but what is it?

Now, I don't think any of this actually proves anything, but I'm officially moving from the "that's silly" camp into the "there are weird things happening here with no explanation, and the only explanation that seems to fit so far is an earpiece."

I'll be watching extra close tonight. Are they allowed to move around the stage during the debate? Are there restrictions on camera placement again? Who's managing the feed this time?

On edit: I just watched the CNN thing again, and I noticed that the phantom voice says "this is a positive step forward" while Bush says "AND this is a positive step forward." I can't hear the voice say "and" - does anyone else hear it? I'd love to hear the tech explanation that involves the addition/subtraction of words.

7. Ok I have seen this said on here many many times but that was the first
audio clip I have heard. Officially move me from the "that's silly" camp also.

I still stand by what I have said about the debate last time though. If he was being fed what to say, why did he do so poorly?

9. I have no clue
That's still bothering me too, but there's clearly something on his back. I've heard some people say it might be a secuirty related device? Seems possible, I guess - I have no idea.

I do think there's some merit to this idea that Bush is thrown off when he's not surrounded by adoring supporters. He doesn't get laughs or applause when he's used to getting them, and I think that gets in the way of the flow he's used to.

Also, maybe there were technical problems with the piece that night?

If there really is someone feeding him lines, he seemed to handle it quite smoothly in that press conference. There were no awkward pauses and whatever else, so I think the fact that that happened at the debate is significant somehow.

Honestly, I have no clue. All I can say is I'm not brushing off the earpiece theory as I did before.

8. If I was Kerry
I wouldn't touch it either. It would only be moving the focus... W* is a dim bulb.
