"Bush is too powerful to be removed"
Was having a discussion with my liberal friend today and he truly believes Bush will win because of all of the power behind him. I bet him a twelve pack that Kerry will win because I believe he will. Have any of you guys and gals heard this sort of thing as well? It's so defeatist.

1. It's true that Bush is powerful
But it's also true that the Neocons are not the sole power in the US government.

There are many powerful interests who are opposed to them, as well.

2. The Neocons aren't nearly as powerful ...
as they think they are. And, besides, I think a lot of *'s behind the scenes backers are starting to think they made a big mistake. They might want to end this fiasco now and have a chance at putting somebody else in in 4. I've been saying that before * got elected, they thought they could use anybody as their puppet to carry out their plans, but they're learning that ... well, not ANYBODY.

4. If they let Bush go on for 4 more years
the Republicans wouldn't have a chance of winning again for about 100 years.

8. Thanks...
I hope these powerful groups realize what an obsurdity neocons are. I hope they realize that the neocon plan is pre-destined to fail and, if furthered, will ultimately bring the US to its knees. They need to be espunged (sp?) from power.

24. It's 'expunged' but I love your other typo "obsurd", combo of obscene
and absurd! :D

5. when you muster what's necessary to execute a COUP in 2000
you don't just give up power in 2004 because a bunch of proletarians say so.

6. He's no Joseph Stalin
though Lord knows he's a wannabe. Read some history for Christsakes.

Also, kiddies, it's still a Democracy, but hey they are so easy to surrender. This country may be lost because the youth are so uniformed, and the rest of us are so cynical. It's now or never. At least be counted as standing for Democracy instead of the easy out of shrugging your shoulders and saying, "Oh well, he's too big and bad."

Fuck Bush.

And, like many of you have stated this is still a democracy. Does anyone know how many lawyers are working throughout the US to monitor this election?

9. Actually, it looks like Washington Insiders are cutting Bush loose
Witness recent CIA statements confirming no WMD in Iraq and other statements undercutting Bush's lies. Hell, even Rumsfeld and Powell are keeping their distance from Shurb.

11. I was reading that into recent events as well.
They certainly aren't protecting him as well lately. Perhaps they simply can't. It's very interesting if you're paying attention.

14. Hey, it's been hard work
propping up Dim Son for four years. These old guys are finally getting sick and tired. They don't want to have to work this hard any more. This power thing isn't all it's cracked up to be, you know.

16. I certainly would be (getting sick and tired).
Y'know, there a time when you just need the leader to pull some weight. This guy just doesn't have it in him. He can't even force himself to spend a day preparing for a debate! I doubt that he can focus that long on the task of memorizing, studying, strategizing, etc.

19. Yes, and what really got my attention was Bremer
Bremer's recent statements that the troop level was way to low for the Iraq mission really underscored what others have been saying, particularly the Military Officers in charge of planning the war.

It is peculiar that so much truth of Bush's across the board dereliction of duty in conducting this fraudulent war is coming out now. Looks like many in his administration are trying to salvage whatever is left of their credibility by being associated with this administration. In other words: The Rats are fleeing the sinking ship.

21. Yes, Bremer was a shocking surprise to me, too.
It feels as if the WH and top aide staffers are in chaos. Kerry's folks seem to be very much in command. Wow. Who'd-a thunk it?

12. Failure.
Understanding This Election

The American people are conditioned to the concept of winning. It's the only thing that matters. It doesn't matter how the winning is done. The Neo Fascists have cleverly fashioned the war on Iraq as a War On Terrorism. Any country can be invaded on that premise now.

Winning takes time. It cannot be disputed that America cannot win in Iraq or Afghanistan, according to the Neo Fascists it's just a matter of time if America just stays the course. According to many Right Wingers, Vietnam was lost because the liberal politicians wouldn't stay the course. They lost their will to win.

Kerry/Edwards are painted as weak and not willing to win the War On Terror. Liberals and the Left Wingers are not tough enough to win the War On Terror and their weakness invites more terrorists to attack America.

This is the crux of the debate.

That is why the Kerry campaign went with the Kerry was a Hero in war. Unfortunately, the Neo Fascists put a dent into that with the Swiftboat Liars and the eroneous misperceptions of Kerry's votes in Congress. The Neo Fascists play down and dirty and consider any election as warfare where no rules apply. Many people keep saying that fear and smear tactics shouldn't be used but then also say negativity is effective. When Dems go on the attack they are attacked by the Neo Fascists who whine that the Dems are being negative and desperate. Sound bytes and perception win over complexity and facts.

It's War!

13. Cheney's Already Threatened another "Terra Attack" if we vote for Kerry
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 03:52 PM by AndyTiedye
We may find that voting the evil empire out of office only makes them angry, :nuke::nuke:
but doesn't make them go away.

Cheney already threatened another MIHOP"terra attack" if we elect Kerry.

But if they stay in power, they're going to get us all nuked anyway, so what have we got to lose?

The veneer of power is a hell of a lot scarier than the actual thing. Also read it's bark is worse than it's bite.

18. You are both correct...
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 04:04 PM by kentuck
Bush is too powerful to be removed but he "must" be removed. That is the dilemma that the powerful propaganda media faces...If they go for Bush, they face the possibility of outright rebellion - riots in the streets - and they know it. Rather than face that threat to their stability and profits, they will "permit" the opponent to win, believing they stand a better chance at controlling the powers in the White House better than the powers in the street.

23. That Dog won't hunt this time around
People are becoming aware of just how poorly Shrub planned for the war. How he impulsively rushed into it. How his reasons for invading were complete B/S. That this Iraq Fiasco is using up valuable military and intelligence resources needed to conduct the REAL WAR against the REAL TERRORISTS.

This is to say nothing of Shrub's disastrous performance on domestic issues.

22. My feeling is he's too incompetent to stay PLUS I think his own party
may be smelling blood and getting ready to distance themselves from him. Best thing that happens is he starts dragging down his buddies in Congressional races. If they start distancing themselves from him after tonight, it means they know it's over.
