Bush Relaxes, Kerry Practices For Tonight's Debate
Town-Hall Formatted Debate To Be Moderated By Charles Gibson

POSTED: 3:41 pm EDT October 8, 2004
UPDATED: 3:55 pm EDT October 8, 2004

ST. LOUIS -- President George W. Bush and Sen. John Kerry will be facing questions from voters tonight at a debate at Washington University in St. Louis.

snip...
Bush has been spending the day focusing on two things -- what he'll say in tonight's debate, and how he'll stay relaxed before it starts.

Bush has been huddling with advisers in St. Louis. He did take at least one break from the indoor strategy session and spent some quiet time fishing in the rain.

snip...
Kerry has devoted two days to intensive preparation for tonight's debate. Senior policy advisers traveled to Colorado to put him through his paces. A ballroom at Kerry's suburban Denver hotel was turned into a mock debate site -- complete with television lights, a Bush stand-in and an audience of people playing the role of undecided voters to throw questions at him.

1. Does Bush think NOT preparing will help?
Gawd. There's a good chance he'll do even worse tonight.

2. A Bush stand-in, huh? In St. Louis ...
I'm thinking Beatle Bob would have been a good Shrub-alike.

4. Bush is relaxing while...
...Karl sweats what he'll say into Bush's earpiece.

Typical Bush - always looking to goof off when he should be working!

6. The definition of Insanity
is repeating the same behavior and expecting different results.

He (bush*) did this before the last debate too.

7. Hey, it's HARD WORK to prep for this - after all, last time
he "knew too much"

I wish Kerry would use the "hard work/working hard" routine to remind everyone that * has been on vacation about 40% of his term!

8. Next piece of spin ...
Next spin the GOP will offer: "Kerry has to practice for debates. What a blueblood intellectual elitist. Dubya, on the other hand, is a down to earth fella who just goes out and wings it, like your average idiot."

Can you tell it drives me nuts how the right has managed to demonized those with a brain?

19. Idiots don't appeal to the undecided voters and unmotivated voters.
Kerry will have yet another chance to be honest and excite voters to get up off their asses and join in democracy! Bush only appeals to non-thinking brouhaha types.

he looked stoned out his gourd for the first one. Hey, it worked so well, might as well try it again, eh?

What a tool.

15. Bush Will NOT DO ANYTHING DIFFERENT TONIGHT!!!
When has he EVER?!? It doesn't fit his personality. He will stubbornly stick to what he's been doing. Same talking points, same defiance, same bullshit.

The ONLY thing different will be some new "zingers".

18. I'm looking forward to seeing a REAL hard worker in the White House
again. I hope the first thing Kerry does is to release the Clinton papers. I would love to see if it's true that his national security brief papers are loaded with his personal notes.

20. If this isn't spin, & the coWard is truly relaxing & fishing
in between 'huddling', could that mean something along the lines of his getting a 'little help' tonight? Questions beforehand, maybe? LOL, I don't think even that would help him, really, but it's galling how dishonest he is.

22. Bush is focusing on miming what his earpiece spouts

He's probably worked more on how to repeat what's rattled in his earpiece better.
