2. Last month, hospitals. This month, schools. |
|
That covers a lot of voting territory. So do the schools.

WASHINGTON (AP) Federal officials said Friday there is no terrorist connection to a computer disk found in Iraq that contained information about schools in six states. http://www.boston.com/dailynews/282/wash/U_S_officials_say_no_terror_th:.shtmlAs discussed here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x1007877

The Regime was SO counting on scaring the parents of small children into voting for Shrub because the terr'ists are going to blow up our schools. What will it be next? Churches? Nursing homes?

11. no kidding....they are spineless, as well as BAD journalists |
|
god knows the reality of the Bush records fiasco; suffice it to say they SHOULD have done more research
which means they SHOULD have run the Ed Bradley piece on WMDs in its place
they caved on that, using the totally bogus 'too close to the election for comfort' excuse
they refused to air the Sibel Edmonds second round
they refused to run commercials by moveon during the SuperBowl
they pulled the Reagan movie
they have NO credibility, despite what defenders have to say
this latest bit of Bush propaganda proves beyond doubt how worthless they are

8. Did they have that woman from San Diego on? |
|
She was on ABC's GMA this morning, saying she wanted to remove all the known risk factors for schools being targets, including polling during elections.
My husband was pissed, saying "I can see through this. They want to move polling places to office buildings that are harder to find, churches that some people won't set foot in, or police stations, where many wouldn't go voluntarily."

12. thank you! it's all part of the BIGGEST story out there: |
|
the concerted, ORGANIZED republican effort to suppress the vote in EVERY corner of the country
this schools thing is VERY VERY effective
they are evil geniuses, that's for sure
remember that idiot from Michigan who was QUOTED as saying it's important to keep the number of black voters down?
why hasn't that gotten the attentionn it deserves?
sorry, hat a dumb question

15. I forgot to add his other comments about the office buildings: |
|
Where rich white Rethugs work, where it's harder to find parking, where it may be harder for some people to get to if it is downtown instead of the neighborhood they know so well, etc.
I couldn't see through it as quickly as he could. My husband is a software engineer, and he can see through an illogical argument in a nanosecond! He'd make a brilliant lawyer, IMO.

13. that would be a big concern-- |
|
especially the police stations. I have heard of police actually arresting people when they came to vote in the situation I know of, the police had a warrent out for this particular person's arrest--and they knew that he was on the voting rolls. When he showed up to vote, someone tipped off the cops--and they arrested him before he got a few hundred yards away.
We need to fight against this kind of thing happening. The man I know of who got arrested--well the police had been after him for a fairly serious crime, but where would they stop? Would people with a parking ticket or two feel nervous about signing in at a police station?
Every year, I hear rumors of voter intimidation--to me this fits that description perfectly. Just having to go into a police station (or some of these churches) can be intimidating to a lot of people. What if you are a Muslim? Is it intimidating to be forced to go and look at a crucifiz while you vote? I would say YES.

14. Since I have grandkids who attend public school in one of the towns |
|
mentioned in the original report, I have been more than a bit interested in what I figured what this BOGUS story. So here's what I just read on a Portland, OR TV station website:
SALEM -- Federal officials said Friday there is no terrorist connection to a computer disk found in Iraq that contained information about schools in six states, including the Salem-Keizer School District here in Oregon. <snip>
As I said in an earlier posting, Bushco jumped on this to play the fear card. Nice try, Bushie. Hope he brings it up in the debate tonight. The more he looks like the total idiot he is, the happier I'll be.
And if he thinks he's going to draft those same grandkids of mine...well, let's just make sure he doesn't have to face this grannie's wrath:

Playing on our most basic fears. Don't they see that fearmongers are nearly as bad as the terrorists themselves? They are not trying to alert us. They are trying to alarm us.
