Local Conservative Radio still trying to spin us as ABB
saying there is no positive reason to vote for Kerry, only negative reasons to vote against Bush. He claims he can't find anyone who supports Kerry because they like Kerry.

When asked why folks hate Bush so much, callers chimed in with "Because he's strong, resolute, moral and won't back down, and they hate that." The commentator compared the hate to the conservative hate for Clinton, but concluded "there were reasons to hate Clinton. There aren't any reasons to hate Bush."

I thought my head was going to explode. If I could have gotten to the phone, I would have, but I was on the road.

Wanna chime in with our positive reasons? Maybe I will email the show with our answers if I get enough.

My positive reason is Kerry's vast knowledge. We will be safer under his watch because he actually knows and understands foreign policy, and will do the right things without letting politics get in the way.

1. Don't worry about it
with so very few people still undecided, that kind of talk will not sway anyone. Its simply for his ratings, that is, throwing red meat to the RW nuts that listen.

3. Is this a new talking point or something?

Because there was an editorial in my local newspaper today from a right wing crazy that said the Democrats around here want to vote for Howard Dean and that John Kerry is a "conservative." (Evidently he's both the #1 liberal in the senate and at the same time a conservative. ????)

14. Probably, but I couldn't track it down
Still, if you want a little insight into the GOP spin machine, you might want to look at my post here: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=132&topic_id=1009415
Or you can become a GOP team leader, but I don't imagine you want to do that!:)

4. I think it is funny. I have gotten to know Kerry, and believe he will be
a wonderful president. They forget there were Republican candidates other Bush in 2000. That primary race got very very ugly. Many republicans held their nose then and will again this election. I can't tell you how many people I have heard say they don't like Bush, but think they have to vote Republican. There are far more of them than any left overs from the Democratic primary.

5. Be happy. Be calm.
Sure, there's plenty of reasons to vote for Kerry, but there are even more to vote against Bush. Whatever gets the people to pull the lever for our guy.

9. I've come to understand that too
I was a Clarkie, and none too enthused about Kerry, let me tell you. That changed after about a month of hard looking.

I was able to tell Kerry's sister at HQ today that I just wish that everyone would turn around and take a good hard look at her brother, and then they'd see what a knowledgeable, honest man he is. She said she thought that's what happened during the debate. People got a chance to take a good, hard look.

Gads is she tiny, btw. He got all the tall genes, and she got all the short ones. Poor thing, she was waking around with a leg brace and crutches.

7. Reminds me of a caller on Hannity's radio show the other day
blithering about how Kerry won the debate because of his privileged prep-school education. (Uhhhhhh, dude? What do you think Phillips Andover is suddenly?) And in practically the same breath he bragged that W was the first president ever to have an MBA. (Not... that... he actually ever did anything with it.) Suspect the Fox & ClearChannel swine are now not even allowed to take any Kerry callers, unless maybe they sound like stoners.

8. Kerry exposed more govt. corruption than any lawmaker in modern history.
How anyone can not appreciate that is beyond me.

11. They have to hear about it first
And when you're the corrupt one in question, I can only imagine you're less than enthused. I hope the Bushes are shaking in their shoes.

We could not have found a better candidate if we tried. He's damn near perfect, from his anti-war roots to his foreign policy knowledge to his compassionate nature. We are indeed damned lucky.

13. That first debate must have converted 90% of ABBers to Kerry supporters.
And I always thought that ABB'ers were unwitting tools of the Republican.
