What superstitious ritual will you perform tonight before the debate
to ensure a Kerry win?

Last time I listened to "Going the Distance" from the "Rocky" soundtrack, and it seemed to work well. I'm putting it in the player again right now.

What will you do?

46. Oooh -- the lounge ... I thought it was a scary place
I usually stick to LBN, Op/EDs and the Campaign.
I'll parachute in next week ...er' no I won't ...I'm off to Manhattan for another trip to the big city before the final vote is cast. I regret to say, if Voldemort is reselected it will be my last trip across the border. Canadians have been very sensitive to the issue of "the people vs the administration" but if the people reselect (or cowtow to another SC decision) that distinction will be obliterated.

sometimes i think that me watching a sports team i like play in a championship will jinx them.

I kinda feel the same about these debates.

12. Well, I feel the way same way about the lottery drawing.
If I have a ticket, I am convinced that watching the drawing on TV will render my ticket null and void!

I don't watch the debates, because my nerves can't take it. I'll read DU to keep up with how it's going.

15. How weird you said that....the same
happens to me. If I watch a football team that I like, they lose. My husband won't let me watch his teams.

My usual schedule is to check the running commentary here on DU to see if it is safe to go watch the debate on TV...usually with a tall margarita and many, many smokes. Shit, I wish I had something wackier than a Marlboro, might calm me down a bit.

17. I think my superstitious ritual will be to tape it and not watch live.
The last two debates have been good for the Democrats, and I wasn't able to watch them either night because I was out. Maybe I'd better just tape it and clean the house.

Had a full set put on last Thursday morning so I wouldn't gnaw off what was left of my real nails during the debate. Then, had 'em touched up on Tuesday morning before Edwards/cheney.

It worked the last two debates. I came home late (from meetings) and surprized my family with my yell as I walked in.

I'm sticking with it.

28. My ritual will entail
cleaining my drain, channel surfing between "Back to School" and baseball, and eating Ritz crackers with Pepper Jack, with a nice liberal cappuccino.

Oh, and just to be safe, I'll read some excerpts from Vonnegut's "Cat's Cradle."

(That's just for the Freep Lurkers.)

50. Sending out positive energy
I envision Kerry winning this debate, the next one, the election, and finally having his inauguration in very vivid images and in great detail.
A therapist told me once that there is much power to be had in thinking positively and envisioning goals, instead of 'catastrophizing'. :-)
