Kerry is used to town hall meetings with actual questions being asked, not meetings wjere every member of the audience has been pre screened as rabid Bush supporters.

If he could not handle the kind of examination of his record that would be expected from the democratic opposition, he will in no way be prepared for questions from a democratic voters who have been more than very disasatisfied with the last 4 years.

Kerry has handled every kind of attack at the 70 odd town hall meetings he has attended over the last two years, and he has always come out on top. Bush has never dealt with an angry question from an angry citizen at all in the last 4 years.

Kerry has handled everything from questions about his vote on Iraq to attacks from the Swift Boat Veterans at town hall meetings.

No matter how well Bush does tonight, He will not do well enough to outperform Kerry
Which is what he must to to reverse the results of the first debate
