Bush did better than he did last time
I still think Kerry won it. Kerry was right on the facts and bush was wrong on the facts. But last time Bush's style sucked and this time it didn't suck.

I'm afraid that the media will spin it as how much Bush improved and therefore call him a winner for doing much better than last time.

We need to make sure that is not the dominate message.

Unfortunately Bush wasn't creamed again. So - it's time to keep focused and keep fighting.

Not as bad as last time, but he did himself no favors.

5. Oh quit being so afraid. Bush was bad again. Didn't answer anything.
Just attacked Kerry. He doesn't have any plans just attacks. He calmed down that didn't make him better in my opinion.

10. Kerry did do better
I agree there.

Obermann score:

Kerry 22

Bush -1

I rest my case.

9. Bush lost.
If you define losing by the net impact on the undecideds.....Kerry wins again. Bush's answers will fall apart over the next few days...

1. Bush would not name one mistake he made.
2. Bush wants to bring back HOMES FOR UNWED MOTHERS?*
3. He keeps repeating the same old crap on Iraq despite all evidence to the contrary.

I guess you could say he did better than last time, but if he managed not to fall on the floor of the dais and have a large, public bowel movement, he could not have done worse.

*This is *NOT* going to go over well with moderate women.

17. Bush did lose
I am not a freeper.

All I said was that Bush didn't look like a total moron as bad as he did the last time. Now we can ignore that - or we can adjust to reality. Seriously - it was unlikely that he was going to do that bad again. Bush still lost.

19. I realize that.
I just wish we (sic) would get out of the mode of giving him "back door" acceptance by saying he managed to respond without pissing himself. I, for one, will never hold him to a scale less than what I would expect from a salient, intelligent PRESIDENT.

16. I thought Bush was almost on the edge of losing it!
He freaked! Kerry killed him on the question about the supreme court! Also on the question about the three mistakes Bush has made! I think John Kerry was solid as a rock!

21. Bush did better - I agree - but he STILL SUCKS BAD!
I mean, to have to describe him as "almost as presidential looking as Kerry" like CBS did doesn't say an aweful lot!!!

Bush is a wild eyed fruitcake who doesn't know much of anything - just has some sorry as sentiments to express - which I, for one, am sick of!!

22. Bush pisses me off with that tax and spend liberal crap...
He's nothing but a no-tax and spend conservative. Where's the money coming from? He throws out those big numbers in an attempt to impress us; but he forgets that it's our money...not his. This country is in big trouble, and he won't admit it. That's one of his many mistakes.

24. Bush improved but Kerry won.
Bush needed to make himself look good and make Kerry look bad. He did neither. Much of Bush's improvement was due simply to the fact that his performance in the first debate was so horrible that he could do nothing but improve unless he curled into the fetal position and began sobbing. Bush appealed to his base, but he always had his base. I don't think Bush improved his standing.

25. But that's not saying much is it?
I know i'm biased but he didn't come off better than Kerry. I'll grant you that he didn't sound as idiotic but, come on, last time was awful. One step above that is noticeable but not enough to win him this debate.

26. Yup, and so did Kerry
Kerry does just enough to beat his opponent. The better Bush is, the better Kerry will be.

That goes for the rest of the world, too, and that's why Kerry will be among our greatest presidents.
