Has anyone EVER shouted over a moderator in prez debate??
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 10:36 PM by KelleyKramer

I think they have had nationally televised presidential debates since Eisenhower, at least since the Kennedy-Nixon debate in 1960.

Has anyone, any candidate or incumbent EVER shouted over a moderator in US presidential debate??

2. Charlie looked pretty sweaty for awhile...like he wanted a striped shirt a
a whistle. Even worse, it looked like he would have to step in and break it up.

13. But he never did..

He never did stop him.

The first 'the rules are off' moment in the history of prez debates.

5. Just goes to show Bush doesn't respect anyone...that was terrible
I couldn't believe he did it...absolutely could NOT TAKE DIRECTION - Charlie should have pulled the mic. I can't wait for Charlie's recap...of course people are going to ask him what he thought about Bush dissing him.

8. Aw, he thinks he is above all of this stuff.
Like nobody has the right to question him on anything or impose any rules.

11. Quayle used to do it.
Both in 1988, where they kept pestering him over what he'd do if Bush kicked it until he opened the JFK Memorial Pandora's Box, and then in 1992.

15. The press is already mocking him
MSNBC was reporting that the press room already wanted to do a story on Bush's anger problems before the debate ... they will have a field day with this.

16. He is not the Emperor is he??

It was BushCo that demanded the 32 page written 'procedure' rules.

After the first debate, the same crew was crying fowl about Kerry taking a pen from his suit pocket.

What if Kerry shouted down the moderator and took over the debate?

Reagan never did that.

Hell, friggin Nixon never did that!!

No candidate or president ever did that.

20. Well, Bush had to stop Gibson from bringing up the back-door draft issue!!
Gibson was just about to ask about reservists in Iraq - probably about staying in the combat zone for horribly long periods of time -- and that is when Bush steamrolled him. Gibson dropped the question in light of the outburst. Bush's outburst might NOT have been uncontrolled emotion oozing out but rather had been COMPLETELY what Bush wanted to do to derail the question.
