WTF up wit' that rooster strut?
One hand out, head bobbing.
A new definition of "looking presidential"

Spinners think he looked strong? Okay.
Wife and I went beyond angry into laughter and derision. These two are a great comedy team! One low key straight man and one wild child emperor.
The clear choice tour.

2. It's the Frat Grad shuffle.
My take on it is that it's a means of making up for lack of substance.

The world has watched us in our simple mindedness. And it's more than embarrassing.

5. It was hilarious
Almost as funny as last week, but not quite. Kerry was determined and forceful, yet composed. Bush was cocky, loud, and condescending. If you were to go by style points alone, Kerry was far superior.

The only question Bush nailed was about abortion and that is because it's an easy one for him...well, just as long as it's somebody else whose girlfriend can't get one.

8. Nailed it only if you feel abortions should be illegal
And unfinanced by any federal funds. I thought Kerry handled the question with a lot of honesty and sensitivity. He has to uphold the law. And the law is that abortion is legal and is a medical right.

So the only way Bush nailed that question is for those who are anti abortion. For those of us who are pro-choice, he blew it.

...I don't agree at all with the Shrub's position on choice. By "nailing it" I meant that he stated his position concisely.

I reiterate: His position is a piece of shit, but he articulated it well.

10. I disagree re him nailing the abortion Q
The GOVERNMENT should NOT be playing doctor; DOCTORS should be deciding what's best for their patients, NOT government officials.

KERRY was RIGHT; it is NOT a simple black & white thing, and the decision of what's best for the patient should be left up to the DOCTORS.

bush was and always is WRONG; it is NOT a simple black & white thing. I WILL NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT have a smarmy BASTARD like bush with NO MEDICAL KNOWLEDGE WHATSOEVER deciding what's medically best for ME.

Any woman who is willing to have BUSH or any other PUBLIC SERVANT decide what's best medically for them, then FINE; go to THEM for your health needs. But you will NOT NOT NOT NOT NOT force me to do likewise.

16. I agree with your disagreement.

:toast:

He starts out by saying he didn't understand Kerry's answer, which was clear as a bell. (Fineman also said he didn't understand. Idiot, he had a good week with me)

Easy.
1>I respect your concern and where it comes from
2>I also have a personal concern which comes from MY POV
3>but the president is the leader of ALL the people, of ALL faiths and POV
4>I have to follow that overriding principle under the constitution
5>but I do respect your question

SIMPLE and pretty darn brilliant.

Same with "partial birth abortion" (Grrr, I hate the misleading term, but...)
and the parental notification and the Stem cell issue. And on and on.

REALITY is it is more complex than Mr BlackNwhite can even BEGIN to understand.

He is a simple man. He is an ASSHOLE.
People DIE everyday because he is such a SIMPLE-MINDED ASsssHole.

:grr:
But you knew that.

21. The so-called "partial birth" abortion ban is just total bullshite.
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 01:37 AM by LynnTheDem
It's ONLY done when doctors deem it a necessity; the foetus's head is too large to pass thru the birth canal. If the head is not decompressed, the foetus will TEAR the woman APART, KILLING HER.

But the rabid "pro-lifers" don't give a shit about a girl or woman being TORN APART.

Some scream that the baby should then be delivered cesarean section; but PB is always safer than CS, and some women CAN'T HAVE a CS, and WILL DIE from a CS. That's the DOCTOR'S CALL to make; NOT PUBLIC SERVANTS with no medical knowledge and training.

But again, the rabid "pro-lifers" don't give a shit about the girl or woman.

There's a GOOD REASON the AMA opposed the ban on partial birth abortions...they give a damn about the life and well-being of the girl/woman.

There's also a reason why abortion USED to be totally illegal (altho the rich never had any problems) and WHY it then became legal; BECAUSE GIRLS AND WOMEN DIED. A LOT of them. On dirty back-alley butchers' tables. And if abortion is banned, they will DIE again on dirty back-alley butchers' tables.

And if young girls are forced to have their parents notified, many will simply run away from home. And likely DIE. Or pay for a back-alley butcher to abort them. And likely DIE.

I hope all rabid pro-lifers go to ELECTED PUBLIC SERVANTS for their medical needs...and just leave the rest of us to go to QUALIFIED AND TRAINED DOCTORS.

24. Damn straight. As is the term "pro-life"
I watched the testimony of doctors on c-span.
I have never seen doctors so heated and adamant about anything before.

Anti-abortionists are blind to the cruelty they impose on the world for their ideology. It's no wonder so many approve of the war, or other similar issues--
whether on receiving end of bombs or bleeding to death in an alley, if it's not in their face it doesn't touch them.

25. It's not true that this procedure is only done when the mother

would otherwise die. If that were actually the case, do you really think so many politicians would have signed the ban -- signed a bill that automatically sentenced some women to die? That wouldn't play too well with their constituents.

I don't like hysterical arguments that distort the facts, no matter what side of an issue they're arguing. Abortion was legalized because some people lobbied very skillfully to convince the public that it should be, and because court cases were then brought that prevailed, not because women and girls were dropping like flies from back alley abortions.

22. B & W? Is it the 50s again?
The damn problem with the social conservatives is that everything is viewed in B & W by them. There are no shades of grey. No compromises. "You're either with us or you're against us" that type of attitude, you know?

28. seeing the world as black or white is a personality trait
and these idiots will never see shades of gray.

Didn't bushie demand a "yes or NO" response from Kerry?

The world is very simple for these rigid types -- and bush is an example of a very extreme personality type. He simply has no concept of gray. And he doesn't dwell on the nuances of issues. He can't be bothered. Also bush is completely devoid of empathy -- sure he can cry but his tears are always inappropriate the the situation.

Also -- he often doesn't come up with the black and white absolutes on his own -- he is going to rely on a "mentor" -- and that would be Rove or Cheney.

One reported said that during the 2000 political campaign that he tried to bush to explain his REASON for his opposition to abortion. bush could only give a superficial response -- it is wrong. period -- end of discussion.

bush is a prime example of poor parenting -- poor socialization. He sure seems to have a pathological love/hate relationship with his parents. We saw him go ballistic in the first debate when his father was quoted by Kerry.
