1. One black woman
Asked about our horrible standing in the eyes of the rest of the world due to this administration.

11. Correction, it was in ST LOUIS
While I'm sure the majority of rural MO is white, there are a LOT of other ethnicities in the St. Louis area (and I'm sure KC as well). The city more than the suburbs (as usual).

21. No kidding
I was born in St. Louis, it's NOT that white. I was shocked at who they chose for the audience. Geesh, sometimes it seems like we just haven't moved an inch on racial equality.

3. no
There was one African-American question - the lady who asked about our reputation being in tatters around the world.

4. Not all
The question about what they'd do about everyone abroad hating America was posed by a young black woman.

6. 1 intelligent and beautiful black woman, IIRC.
The one who asked about other countries opinion of us.

I believe she was African American, but it was difficult to see.
Still, the audience was overwhelmingly white. A real problem.

13. Her name was"Nicki" (spelling?)

And she was intelligent (and beautiful) enough (and Kerry a fine enough politician) that he referred back to her BY NAME almost 40 minutes after her question.

I noticed her. Big time.

9. She was great...
asking assuredly without stumbling like most of the other questioners.

Perhaps that's why people love mr Bush...it's hard work talking on national TV!

20. Kerry Addressed Her Several Times On Other Questions.
Her name is Nikki. She didn't need to read her question from a cue card either. i wonder if that was her actual question?

8. Ah,
that question was posed while I was checking on DU. Heard it but didn't see it. But the audience did seem overwhelmingly white to me.

10. My husband and I noticed the whiteness of the audience also
I believe there were only a few people of color. That just wasn't right. Minorities have a lot of concerns and many of them just were not covered in this debate.

12. me too...but maybe undecided minority voters are more rare?
I certainly don't know a lot who are undecided on whether they like Bush or not.

I forgot that they "stacked" the audience with so-called undecided voters

17. True...
But did we really need three questions about abortion and stem cell research, respectively? I'm sure there were some other people there that had some of the concerns that are affecting minorities. I didn't hear nearly enough about healthcare, jobs and social security.

15. well...
These were supposed to be 'soft' supporters or undecided. I've canvassed a lot of African-Americans and I can't think of one who indicated any possible switch to Bush*. If anything, there was a lot of rage.

19. Are there any undecided black voters?
After hearing Cheney voted agains freeing Mandela? If there are, they'll be glad to hear Bush doesn't support Dred Scott though.
