I was "FREAKED OUT" when Bush disrespected Gibson and the rules
Am I the only one who was a little stunned by this BIZARRE action? It was frankly a little scary and when it happened it reminded me of a drunk person pushing his weight around. VERY, VERY BIZARRE!

Bush was OVERLY COCKY and flat out RUDE and DISRESPECTFUL! He looked PSYCHO!!!! I urge all of you to write to as many media outlets about this. Lets keep this alive and in the news. The best way to do this is to write as many media outlets as possible.

Buy the way, did it look like Bush was on some kind of Upper Drug tonight? Say COCAINE??? He looked visibly wired! As Clint Eastwood would say "The guy on the right had "crazy eyes".

Here is an outlet to write the media about the debate:

1. Same here!
I even typed that it was scary right here on DU right after it happened, if you don't believe me. That was unsettling and completely inappropriate for a man in his position. I'm still kind of freaked about it.

2. He was trying to looked shocked at Kerry's callousness.
But he can't pull it off. He went right into bitchy/whiny mode. I am sure he thought he was creating a debate-defining moment out there, when his sense of honor and respect for the other coalition members would require him to step forward and set the record straight. He wanted to have an "outsider doing what's right" theme.

Instead he had a "patient outside of his cell" theme.

4. No kidding
Things started escalating when W jumped off his chair after what was, I believe, the second or third question. The man seemed genuinely angry and I half-expected Gibson to tell him to sit his sorry ass back down.

It would've been hilarious if it came to blows, which was pretty close to happening, it seemed.

Folks, this is the guy with the finger on the button. That whole "if Kerry can't stand up to XYZ, how can he stand up to terra" shit isn't gonna fly anymore. If W can't take the heat in a debate, I sure as hell don't want to trust his cool in an international crisis.

5. If Kerry's people don't turn this into Bush's "Dean Scream" they are dumb
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 11:50 PM by Democat
It's time to take Bush and the right wingers to task for their own previous comments.

Kerry needs to make videos and get them out there right away!

6. My wife jumped out of her chair on that.
"There he goes! He won't listen to anybody. That's why we're in this mess."

She usually doesn't do that kind of thing, but it hit her in the gut pretty hard. I'm suspecting a lot of other woment reacted the same way.

8. My husband yelled, "He's outta control! He's outta control."
Did anyone see Charlie's face? That would make an interesting picture.

Of course, Charlie can't tell the President to sit down and shut up. This guy sure knows how to abuse his authority.

He was DARING Charlie Gibson to enforce the rules. He's a poker player, folks! He's a high stakes gambler, holding an empty hand.

Gibson SHOULD have enforced the rules, but was intimidated, just like he was supposed to be.

Bush overdid this. He might have pressed this and not looked nuts, but then, he'd have to be not nuts.

Gee -- anyone still wondering why this guy can't string a coalition together?

Meanwhile, Kerry was looking like the leader of the free world.

I think Bush has given up on persuading anyone. Good thing, because he can't make a case for shit. So his strategy is to fire up the flying monkeys to make havoc on election day -- that's their only chance.

24. Can anyone tell me
whether that odd little jaw movement he kept doing might be a known drug reaction. It was sort of like popping his jaw, and it was very distracting to me. I knew a girl with mild Tourette Syndrome, and she ahd a similar movement as one of her tics.

9. It has to be turned into Gore's sighs, Dean's scream, Bush's smirks
and petulance during the last debate.

I keep waiting for the news channels to re-play it but I haven't seen anyone do it.

Remember, polls showed people thought Gore won the first debate until they showed the Gore's sighs over and over again.

We need to get that video of Bush's freak out shown over and over again.

12. Why? Since when has Bush EVER respected rules?
What disappointed me was that Gibson turned out to be such a absolute failure as a moderator. If he was supposed to get paid for this gig, I vote that he gets his pay docked.

15. Bush was being macho.
According to the suck-up Tweety, Bush was being assertive and Tweety was gettin' a woody behind that action.

the moderator gave Kerry time to make a response which he wouldn't otherwise have.

OK guys, it's fun to talk and make fun of Bush but action is what is important! Lets start writing to as many places as possible. I would be more interested in reading your letters to ABC news than all these cute comments. It's time to get to work! Thanks!

When they showed clip it started after B$$$ had conquered the stage. Why leave out the demonic part? Will we see this clip again? How about as often as the Dean Scream?

26. You could see it coming though. The eyes blinked their warning
The only thing missing was the foaming mouth. It was a big blunder, and I think the camera caught Kerry smiling in acknowledgement. I also expected * to go bonkers, but he recomposed himself enough to please those who are already his hardcore supporters. But that's not going to win him any undecideds.

I loved the part where he was claiming to be a progressive environmentalist, keeping the wetlands wet. Yeah, if wetting them with leaked oil from the Arctic National wildlife Refuge counts.
