"Got Wood" is a vile slogan. Tell everyone what it means. |
|
Edited on Fri Oct-08-04 11:58 PM by troublemaker
"Wood" is porno movie slang for an erect penis. It is a term WIDELY used by *some* men these days. It is slang with which locker room Bush is well familiar.
Bush is a brilliant natural politician. (Really! It's not easy for a retarded man to be loved by 40% of the country) His comment was an inspired intuitive blurt because it appeals to his psycho male base while not offending a lot of women BECAUSE THEY DON'T KNOW WHAT HE WAS CONVEYING.
So please make sure all women understand what this jerk was saying.

15. Kerry said Bush would be defined as running a small business |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 12:13 AM by gauguin57
under Republican rules ... he said Bush declared $84 in income from a timber business.
Bush, being a clueless smartass, said, "I own a timber company? That's news to me, heh heh heh. Need some wood? (or got wood, or want some wood ... not sure). I'll bet Bush thought he REALLY got a zinger over on Kerry ...
Well, the joke's on Bushie. He DOES own a timber business, and he doesn't even friggin' know it!
www.needsumwood.com has the whole story, and the link of explanation to factcheck.org
"Bush is a part-owner of a timber company
“President Bush himself would have qualified as a "small business owner" under the Republican definition, based on his 2001 federal income tax returns. He reported $84 of business income from his part ownership of a timber-growing enterprise. However, 99.99% of Bush's total income came from other sources that year. (Bush also qualified as a "small business owner" in 2000 based on $314 of "business income," but not in 2002 and 2003 when he reported his timber income as "royalties" on a different tax schedule.)” "

and, outside of a few 18 to 22-year-olds, I really don't know any woman who wouldn't know what that meant. Seriously.
Don't pander. Women DO know what that means - even if they don't want to admit it.

12. Oh, yeah, women know what that means. Its crude, frat boy, |
|
leering drunk, locker room humor but we recognize it. I don't think that Bush really knows what it means - he probably thinks it is a golf term. He can't relate to offending women, minorities, etc., he thinks he is one of the chosen few and the rest of us are here to serve him.

There are all sorts of people in the world. Most women who get this are Democrats. Most Republican women would not. Particularly Bush's fundie base. IMO.
I have several adult and moderately worldly female fundie relatives who say things all the time that almost crack me up because they don't recognize certain double-entendres.
They love Bush. They would be APPALLED if they knew Bush was slyly bragging about his wang, but I guarantee they wouldn't have caught it at all.

Why wouldn't a woman know what that means? We may not spend a lot of time in men's locker rooms (at least I don't :P), but we have male friends and boyfriends and brothers - we've heard the term many times. :-)

19. No misunderestimation. I have no clueless female friends because |
|
I chose my friends. I also don't have Republican friends.
My contention is not that feminist women wouldn't get it, but that ultra-conservative women wouldn't. Bush's female base.
What I was picturing was telling nice old ladies who love Bush that is was sort of rude for him to make an off color comment.
I thought it was understood that any post saying "X means y" is aimed at people who don't know that X means y. (It's no more an insult to others than the phone book is an insult to those of us who already know the number we want to call.)
