Why bother.

It's being DU'd.. you think anyone watching CNN as a serious news program give a crap about the truth??

We have a boatload of good intentions, but I have no faith that CNN will report the truth of anything since the confessions of Eason Jordan..

So screw CNN and it's mother broom.

On the discussion site I admin on (its not politics) we find by our unique IP hits that unregistered lurkers outnumber the registered users in multiples. Lurkers are shy creatures particularly on a board like this where the regular posters are informed and assertive and new posters are viewed suspiciously.

I suspect there are thousands of unregistered shadow members who love to read but dont want to post.

The think we've written programs to parse the pages and vote for Kerry, automatically. The program will do it essentially as fast as the server will respond to it.

As in "robot."

38. THEY used to skew the polls, when polls were not set up to

prevent multiple votes being cast by one person. That's what freeping is all about, for those of you who don't know. THEY have had threads explaining HOW to circumvent polls' safeguards, too. THEY believe they can do anything in the cause of Bush*.

When we DU a poll, it is by individual votes from a lot of people, not by a lot of votes from a few people. We don't believe the ends justify the means; we know what cheating is.

There was a liberal site that was encouraging people to go and vote, buzzflash.com.
The liberals and RATS are now the true poll freepers. Most people on FR don't bother to respond to poll freeping requests at all any more, while the DUh crowd, which is psychotically obsessed with FR and watches every thread posted every minute of every day, immediately acts on any Freeping request posted here and launches a massive anti-freeping attack on said poll. And they're serious about it. They run scripts to clear cookies and spam polls with hundreds of votes at a time, etc, in ways few Freepers even bothered to try in the old days, much less now.

It's frustrating to an extent, but it doesn't bother me too much, since they always way overplay their hand and end up showing results so ultra-left and so far out of line with the results of scientific polls that there's hardly anyone left out there that takes a single online poll seriously in the first place.

It's also a sign, of course, that they're desperate, while we're sailing happily along enjoying real power and success.

Well you can't get all hot and bothered about some liberal site doing that when doing the very same thing is one of the mainstays of THIS site.

Which I find incomprehensible. These internet polls are useless, and for the life of me I can't understand why so many people get wrapped up in freeping them.

I agree that we can't blow a gasket over the other side doing what we do all the time. As for why we freep the polls, it's mostly just for fun. Imagine the reaction of the dim-voting nuts when they looked at an online poll for dim candidates a couple of months ago and saw that Al Sharpton was ahead by around 20% at one point. True, it's not scientific and doesn't really impact anything, but it's good for a chuckle once in a while.

43. I posted this on another thread, but it seems to fit here as well.
I wear hearing aids and also used closed captioning, and I watch TV with the volume turned way up. But when Bush was speaking, I had to keep lowering the volume on the TV, because with my hearing aids in, his shouting was actually painful to me.

When you adjust the volume on a closed-captioned TV, during the brief time you are making the adjustment the closed captioning doesn't work. The fact that I had to keep "disappearing" my closed captioning to turn Bush down and then to turn Kerry back up made the fact of Bush's shouting very noticeable to me, but I was wondering whether anyone else noticed, or whether my own awareness of it was just an effect of having to constantly mess with my volume and thus lose my closed captioning for a few seconds each time.

Some of those polls we've been hitting have vote numbers in the very low thousands. And think about everyone else voting in them.

I'd estimate DU's presence at around 1,000-3,000 in these polls.

I remember how they used to dominate the polls in the 2000 election. They can't do it now, no matter how hard they try. First, we're energized, second, they're backing a losing horse, Average Americans are hitting the polls and expressing thir opinion. So, to make themselves feel better, they claim we're using bots as commented on before -- Contrary to what they are saying about skewing the polls so badly that CNN et al will have to dump them, I think they are doing it so that they can say to one another later "Well, Bush was only demolished becase we voted against him to make DUers look bad."
