What is happening in Australian election?

Will Howard go down. If he does US is down to 1 serious ally. If Blair gets impeached, we're all by ourselves. B* is toast, because I think Howard loses and Blair gets impeached very soon.

1. Right now, it's 5 pm in Sydney...
... so the polls haven't yet closed. The last report I can find is from about 8 pm EDT, saying the race was too close to call. An early report put Latham behind Howard by three or four points. But, no one is able to predict how the minor parties will form coalitions with either Labor or the Liberal Party, regardless of who wins the PM spot.
