Why didn't Kerry mention that Gasoline is almost 2.00 a gallon?
The price of gas has gone up 21 cents in the past 3 weeks. Why does Kerry ignore the obvious stuff that will hit home with everybody? Price of gas, price of Milk...all way up under Bush...

I think he undermined his last debates sucesses by working the Iraq stuff too much. He won all those points last time. Why give Bush another chance...?

Kerry should have worked more domestic info last night...even if the questions were about the war...

1. a good come-back for Kerry
regarding the "need some wood" snipe from bush* would have been

"considering the estimated high prices of home heating oil months, I'm sure alot of people will need some wood to keep their homes warm this winter...."

2. imho, it's probably hard to respond to everything when you're
up there on stage, have a very short window in which to answer, and have many other points you want to work in or respond to from the other side. It's easier to think of things like this as an observer or in hindsight. He will have an opportunity to address domestic issues on Wednesday.

3. The third debate is on domestic policy
Kerry only has 2 minutes or less and has to answer all those nasty ads that have been flooding my tv that question Kerry's ability to fight terrorism and the war in Iraq. Kerry has time next week to bring up more on the domestic issues.

4. heating oil and wood
perhaps Kerry can slip it in the 3rd debate

cite the fact about $84 from timber and the "..need wood..?" comment by saying that alot of people will need wood to supplement heating their homes this winter considering the expectd high cost of home heating oil

5. Almost? I paid $2.07 in Ohio yesterday. Diesel is even higher
than gas now, that will make everything we buy go up. Home heating oil is basically the same product. The next debate is on domestic policy I'm sure this will come up then.

8. Doesn't gasoline go through more refinement processing and
isn't diesel just a by-product of making gasoline? Am I wrong? If not how can diesel be higher than gas? Could it be that the heating season is coming and they want pump up their profits?

10. Around here (MD-DC), diesel is always a few cents cheaper
I thought that ws related to less refinement. Also, the reason why diesel engines produce more particulate matter.

12. About 6 months ago diesel went up
It is now higher than Premium unleaded.

I don't know why?

7. I would keep away from that if I were Kerry, frankly, because he is
not going to be able to do much about the price of gas when he is president. It's not something that a president can have much influence on, especially with the specter of Peak Oil, etc.

9. I agree. Kerry can't make promises about lowering gas prices.
It simply won't happen. Though I hope during the next debate he discusses his energy plan. * kept saying that he had one and I would love to see JK tear him apart on that.
