For anyone who has not seen this, the battleground states are starting to look like an Ocean of Blue.

1. Five states are virtually out of play with those numbers...
Double digits (or almost double digits) in Washington, Oregon, New Mexico, Minnesota and Michigan.

Of course, there's still time for some movement, so I wouldn't call any of these states as being blue yet.

The shrub is the only MAn of God..The Pope, and Desmond Tutu, who condemn Bush and his war policies are both just puppets for satan..Now get me a good televangelist and he will scream to you what God intends for Bush to do, just send in 50 dollars first!

8. I Think Kerry Has Been Successfully Painted as Anti Coal...
just as Gore was painted as anti-coal. Despite the fact that Bush never came through with the funding for clean coal technology (as he promised in 2000). For all of the misery that the coal industry has brought us, I don't get it either. They level our hills, destroy our streams and have left community after community high and dry after the coal companies pull out when they are done with us. With all of that said, I still don't buy the six point spread. I still like Kerry's chances here.

13. Didn't Edwards father work in a coal mine?
I was under the impression that Edwards grew up a coal miners son and knows quite well the plight of coal miners. How can they believe Bush* has a handle on it?

14. I had heard that Gore lost WV because of coal
You are the first person from WV who has told me that. My other sources were national magazines and newspapers.

10. Steel tariffs
Remember that Bush went ahead and imposed them prior to the 2002 elections. It was done PRECISELY to keep WV in the Repub column. It worked. Free trade notwithstanding I understood the political astuteness of Bush's (actually Rove's, of course) move. Apparently the people of WV haven't forgotten. I doubt that we would have gotten WV in the Dem column so it's not that big a loss. I understand your frustration, though.

poor people are stupid.

OK, ignorant. But you get the point. And it's not their fault.

25. I live in a republican suburb and let me tell you rich republicans are
just as stupid as ignorant poor fundamentalists. They do not read, and they believe every word out of momkey's mouth. I have a neighbor who is building very large house worth about 1 million and we got into a debate over the intelligence of the monkey. He thinks monkey is smart. This guy and his wife both have advanced degress and have to insight and common sense of door knobs because they refuse to really study the monkey's actions and words.

5. Encouraging.....
CNN's latest map shows Bush still ahead in Ohio and Florida. However, the accompanying article stated that Kerry has cut into Bush's lead in both states. It also stated that Kerry's lead in Pennsylvania now appears solid (New Jersey as well). In the article A Repub strategist acknowledged that Colorado is now in play thanks to Dem Senatorial candidate Salazar's strong showing.

1) very few people who voted for gore in 2000 will support bush now. anyone who survived the barrage and still supported gore is fairly immune to their sort of manipulation.

i see that kerry leads in every bg state that gore took in 2000.

2) there are former bush voters who have seen the curtain pulled back and will not be manipulated anymore. the anti-bush contingent is even more motivated in 04 than the pro-bush was in 00.

i see 5 former **** states now leaning kerry and none of the rest are outside the moe.

I tend to feel more confidence in the zogby poll than most others. his track record back to before the 2000 election has been pretty good and I think he works very hard to keep any partisanship or trickery from tainting his methods.

24. the important thing to note
is the trend. About a week ago, Bush was over 300. Now Kerry is likely over 300. Last night's debate did nothing to change that momentum. Kerry needs to keep plugging away.
