Wonder how Charlie Gibson felt when Bush charged him last night?? |
|
Wouldn't that freak you out, if you saw the President coming right at you, talking over you, and basically telling you to shut up?!!! WTF?
I hope Gibson gives his impressions about last night. If Bush tries to bully Bob Scheiffer (the moderator for debate #3), he's going to look even worse. Scheiffer seems to be extremely soft-spoken, affable, and a nice old man.

1. Schieffer is a tough cookie |
|
I wouldn't advise Bush to charge him. He has about 50 years of journalism experience and he knows how to take care of himself.

23. Schieffer will say, "Pres. Bush, you agreed to these rules, and it's my |
|
job to ensure you abide by them. I am giving Sen. Kerry extra time to offset yours."

3. He would not have charged out like that |
|
if Al Gore had been the moderator. I think they need to call on Gore to moderate the 3rd debate. Bush may need to be physically restrained.

4. omg! physically restrained!! |
|
Is it to late to get that into the 32-page list of rules? I don't want anyone to get hurt in the next debate. Restraining Bush may be the only way to make sure that doesn't happen!

22. This is the problem with using journalists who, and their networks |
|
are dependent on having access to this administration. They know how they can be out of the loop on, oh, such overt ways.

5. Gibson lost a golden moment when that happened |
|
he should have said " the rules of the debate apply to you too" should have made people see how the rules do not apply to *, it was there for all the world to see...fuck you, I make the rules..but of course Gibson being the good repuke he is, shut his mouth -
sickening and disgusting to see this angry and crazy behavior, what does this guy do when no one is looking? don't you wish we had a video tape of that?

He could have enforced the rules. Bush is a high stakes gambler, and was counting on Gibson to be a nice guy and not stop him. He knew Gibson would be intimidated, and he was.
Out of line, totally. It's not as though Kerry had said he was Hitler, or that his mother wears army boots, some outrageous statement that had to be set straight -- it was rather a standard disagreement that could easily have been responded to within the protocol of the debate. The way he kept walking forward and stretching out his arms reminded me of some drama queen torch singer end their songs, calling all attention to themselves and their drama, this utter narcissism.
Bush is TERRIFIED of losing. It looks like its going to happen. Winning a second term was all he needed to do to "kill his father" in the Oedipal sense, not matter what would happen in a second term. His behavior is being fueled by irrrational inner forces....

I finally checked out the video (CBS has clips, links posted here, thank you!!!) and the look on Charlie's face is PRICELESS... in fact, somebody should do a MasterCard ad. His eyes, his face... sorta Lil Orphan Annie... like he's about to say, "Leapin lizards!" and his mouth drops and by then (cuz it's only seconds) Bush is off 'n runnin' (at the mouth).
I suspect Mr. Gibson's first inclination was to cold cock the son of a bitch, but ... then he realized... this is the freakin' Prez and the secret service shoots to kill.
So, he closed his mouth. BUT... someone should isolate that face for posterity.

17. Gibson dropped the ball. Big time! |
|
Even Gwen Ifill, during the VP debate, called Cheney on his overstepping the rules. When Cheney said he needed more than 30 seconds for a response to one of Edwards' statements, Ifil declared, "That's all you get." End of discussion. I'm not wild about Gwen, but I'll give her credit for that.
Charlie Gibson didn't do his job! Showed where his loyalties are.

8. Maybe they need a big plastic shield. |
|
You know, like the ones they put up around the box at a hockey game? Put that up around Schieffer. It would certainly make Kerry feel right at home -- he's actually suited up and played ice hockey before.
Might baffle the Shrub, too -- he'd spend the whole night hypnotized by his own reflection, kind of like a hypnotized chicken.

13. But I'd be like "'fuck you doing??!!" |
|
Then the FCC would push through some new rule that you get fined not only for how many TV stations you were on, but how many television sets you were on, and the media would effectively be cowed enough so that Bush* could actually physically attack journalists without getting in any trouble.
