My problem is that Senator Kerry worries me more.

I have problems with his exploitation of his “heroism” in Vietnam, a “heroism” he rejected when it was popular to reject the Vietnam conflict.

I’ve known some heroes. I knew them in Korea. Combat is a descent into insanity. Heroism arises in horrific, bloody episodes. Those who survive remember it more than they wish and have little interest in talking about it publicly.

Senator Kerry received three Purple Hearts, but the senator was never hospitalized for those “wounds.” People I know who earned Purple Hearts put in hospital time. If all you needed were Band-Aids, (which we infantry didn’t have) you kept going. Everyone had scratches from barbed wire and some from shrapnel, which included me, but we never bothered with the medic for trivial cuts.

As for those medals, there are serious questions as to who wrote the recommendations for the medals Senator Kerry received and whether he lied about the incidents for which they were awarded.

But this is all 35 years old. More important to me is his support for late term abortion. I cannot see how the killing of a healthy child in the process of birth can be anything but murder
