The Most Protected Boy In the Kingdom

Once upon a time, four long years ago, a man named Al Gore, the Vice President of the United States, ran for the presidency of this great country. His administration had just completed eight years, during which the country had been extremely prosperous. A huge surplus had replaced the deficits run up by previous administration, and we were at peace. Employers(imagine this, kiddies!) had trouble finding people to fill their job openings.

Vice President Gore debated his challenger, a little known governor named George Bush. Bush was a very inexperienced challenger, without experience of any kind in foreign policy. His failed business record did not bode well for his handling of the economy. His plans for huge tax cuts aimed at the richest people of the country did not add up, even on paper. It would seem that the media would have a field day challenging Governor Bush. The openings to do so were so obvious and so plentiful.

Yet Bush seemed to receive little, if any, scrutiny from the press. It was, indeed, very curious. And so, when the debates began, it was assumed that some of the very serious questions about this little known governor would finally be asked. But the "journalists", in their wisdom, decided that it was more important to discuss the "differing" personalities of Gore during the debates. And so, this was discussed on cable 24/7 for months.

Four years later, as Bush debates his challenger, John Kerry, the media have subjected him to a scrutiny that their golden boy will never experience. But something strange has occurred. Now their golden boy doesn't seem to know who he is. Live, on camera, he ranges from frozen, mega-blinking fool, to scowling, snarling brat, to hyperactive, strutting creep, all in the space of a few minutes. He yells down the moderator. He goes in and out of his fake Texas twang. And so, surely, this will be the media story. For didn't we learn four long years ago, that it is very important for a candidate to "know who he is"?

You've gotta be kidding, boys and girls. If we haven't learned in four years what an absolute joke our media is, and how they have aided this war criminal in all of his activities from the very beginning, then we really are children. And we should go back to reading fairy tales.

4. I like Kerry's message

of * being in denial, but I think the average American also needs to know the media is in denial about their little chimp. When I bring up the media bias with swing voters during my canvassing, I get blank stares. They just don't see it at all.
