Was "need some wood?" one of them?

.."that answer was almost enough to make me scowl" was one of the big ones. It fell flat, though.

4. He used "you can run, but you can't hide" three times. What the hell
does that mean? He used it again today in a campaign speech. What a jerk.

5. Kerry defended his record well
he pointed out that he was in Congress when the budget was balanced, and that he was on the side of balancing it. He said "we did it, I was there." (Maybe in the next debate he'll remind people that not a single republican voted on Clinton's 1993 budget...)

Bush looked really stupid not addressing that fact at all, just repeating his ridiculous, meaningless "zinger."

Gonna smoke 'em out

Dead or Alive

What the fuck is he gonna do next? Cut Kerry off at the pass?

Not only is bush* too stupid to believe, but he must have been coached on the debate by watching old cowboy movies.

12. Didn't Reagan coin "you can run..."
some time ago? I was quite young, but I remember seeing it on T-shirts and the like.

17. In the "olden days"

(pre-computers) accountants supposedly wore visors tinted green. My best friends dad was an accountant, and he never did, but...

Anyway, it's a term used to define an accountant and his long hours of looking at the books...

18. If his handlers had the sense God gave a goose,
they'd have had him say 'battling bean counters' instead. But they don't, fortunately, and nobody under 40 is going to have the slightest f*cking idea what that eyeshade crap was about.

19. Isn't green eye shades
Isn't green eye shades related to accounting (some accountants once wore them, I think). So, battling green eye shade would be two sets of number from different sources for the same "object."

20. Back in the day,
accountants used to wear green plastic visors (eyeshades) to counteract the glare from the paper they stared at all day:

21. OK all you youngens'!
"Green eyeshade" is a derrogatory term used to refer to someone who spends too much time on details, is too precise,is a nitpicker or a "bean counter". Accountants used to wear these green visors to shield their eyes from bright light as they worked.

I think what Bush was actually implying was that he doesn't like to be confused with the facts or bothered with details. To me, that statement really said alot about his shoot from the hip approach to things.
