Last night FOX vs MSNBC.
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 01:28 PM by Reciprocity
You know I hardly ever watch FOX my main hangout is MSNBC. That said I noticed allot of threads mentioning that FOX was giving favorable reviews of Kerry's performance. So late last night I gave them the benefit of a doubt and tuned in. I found them to be more fair than MSNBC. The panel that Tweety had was almost all Bush supporters. After about half an hour of their Bush love-fest I switched to the Food Network. Then after reading some of these threads about FOX tuned into them. It hurts to say this but as I was watching I couldn't help but think that I wished I had watched them instead of MSNBC.

1. Chris Matthews was on Bush's nuts last night for some reason.

6. Except for Keith Olbermann
Who is so fair and balanced (the real kind - not the Faux News kind) that it can be painful to watch him when Kerry screws up, which, luckily, isn't often.

Olbermann sat and waited for the blog-o-sphere to fact check the lumber company petard and some other subsequent info before posting his "final and updated" score.

Bless his heart - if the rest of the media had one-fourth of his talent and honesty, Bush never would have been elected, rather selected, in the first place.

3. MSNBC-I noticed the same thing. I didn't switch to Fox, but I
turned the channel from MSNBC. Not that I can't take kind talk about *. It was just that it was turning into a love fest for * and giving a totally warped view. They were not speaking of teh debate that I just saw.

For instance, they were all over * for stampeding on Gibson and insisting on talking over him. I thought that was *'s low point in the debate. Gibson was going to let * respond, but he was saying he wanted him to incl. something in his response. * had a temper tantrum. Tweety thought this was a great, manly thing to do. All the men are gonna love that, he said. EVERYONE on the panel agreed! What a macho guy, what a natural guy, puke puke puke.

If you're gonna have an orgasm over one of the candidates, there should be at least one person to give some real perspective to the pundit talk. Ron Jr. was no help whatsoever. He just sat there. Maybe he agreed and didn't want to say so. But it was clear to me that Bush had not "won." At worst it was a tie.

5. When you have a panel at least make it balanced.
I don't expect are want a panel of spin doctors for one side are the other. These guys and gals are paid to be journalist not Bush clones.

7. Was there a Dem on Hardball last night?
In what world is Pat Buchanan an appropriate host as a news anchor other than fox news? Did anyone listen/read his 'first reaction' to the debate? He must have gone to the bathroom and when he came back Reagan Jr. was razzing him that Bush was doing good.

9. I watched both channels
It seemed like the coverage was good on MSNBC and on Fox. They contrasted the performance of both candidates. Personally, I felt the debate was close (slight edge to Kerry) so the analysis was pretty fair to both sides.

10. Both CNN and MSNBC have taken sharp right turns
to the point where the difference between them and Fox News is getting harder and harder to tell. Tweety didn't have even one left of center person last night. I can't believe that he has the ex-lawyer handling Bush's campaign as a regular. Add Pat Buchanan, Alan Greenspan's wife, and Ron Silver to that and the only diversity you've got is between new far right and old far right. Ron Reagan, an independent, is the only non-conservative Tweety tolerates on his panels, but he doesn't let him speak. Last night in the post-debate show, Pat Buchanan filibustered for about 20 minutes, taking every question and cutting off everyone else, telling America that Bush had wiped the floor with Kerry and was now a demi-god. I now despise Chris Matthews, even more than Rush Limbaugh, because he tries to cultivate a progressive audience for his ratings by feeding them a few scraps now and then, but when it really counts he sides with the Repuke scum each and every time.

12. This is a no win for MSNBC.
Fox viewers are not suddenly going to switch to them and viewers like me are turning away from them.
