What's The Deal With Bush's Winking At Audience Members
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 01:48 PM by arwalden
It was very "Leisure Suit Larry" of him. Like a used car salesman trying to pick up chicks at the Holiday Inn lounge. At times I almost expected him to point to an audience member by making a "gun" with his outstretched finger... then make a clicking sound with his tongue as he motioned his thumb forward like the hammer on a gun.

I was reminded of Isaac, the bartender from the Love Boat. It was creepy and cheesy.

"Back atcha baby! Hey there sweetheart.. Who luvs ya?"

I'm sorry. I have to ask. What did Tweety say? Did he go into post coital bliss, like he did when chimp strutted in his play flightsuit?

2. EXACTLY! It was the weirdest shit he did. And it was nearly every time
he sat back down. Like he picked out an audience member to wink at... hoping to warm up his audience. Strutting chicken winking car salesman asshole.

23. If Kerry had done that it would be
being analysed to death in the media right now..

And I'm sick to death of bush getting away with shit because they want their tax cuts and don't want their monopoly BROKEN UP!

3. LOL
OMG, do you think some of the people in the audience (gasp!) liked it? Or, even...:puke: thought it was sexy? Sometimes it seems like the gulf dividing "us" and "them" really is insurmountable.

6. My Mom (Loyal Dem) Used To Think Cheney Was Sexy
This was during the first Gulf War. Then she found out what he was really like and now he makes her ill.

10. I didn't think it was winking
I thought he had a wierd facial tic. It seemed like a contortion and I figured he was trying so hard not to make faces that his face was rebelling. (I'd rebel too if I had to be that face!)

13. It was to distract you from
his "coke jaw". Hubby (not a DUer but a Kerry supporter) and were watching the debate and he said "OMG, he has "coke jaw""

I know it's been discussed here before but, his constant grinding of his jaw is a symptom of cocaine use.

15. Winking made him appear confident and comfortable
At least, in his or Rove's mind, if Bush winked at the audience, he would appear a lot more comfortable, relaxed and in tune with the audience.

Of course, that was until his big Dean Scream & his near attack of Charlie Gibson.

18. I agree.
Completely back-woods stagecraft. Struck me as completely rehearsed because it was such an inappropriate little flourish in the context of the delivery of what had just been said. Exactly, the sort of thing I'd expect from a failed cheerleader (no disrespect to cheerleaders) who is completely dependent on earmikes and meaningless soundbites. I think most American's can pick up on that non-verbal stuff and categorize it properly. Most of us have seen little pricks do exactly the same thing. Once they lose an argument, they pretend they won.

Forget the rhetoric and what was said. Vast #s of Americans were only judging on HOW they presented. and *'s problem is that he's a moron, and he can't possibly hide it unless the audience has blinders on.

That is so true. It was creepy. I noticed it and it seemed, well - so gosh-darned inappropriate. "We had to invade!" Wink. "Of course I stole your social security!" Wink. I wanna practice my love with gynecologists!" Wink.

35. He thinks he's cute
and someone probably told him to continue because they thought it was endearing.

You were nice in your analysis, Allen. He reminds ME of my perverted Uncle Larry, who would always try to pinch his nieces' nipples and asses. And ask us to sit in his lap (which I always refused to do).

Ick.

bush looks like a Chester when he does that, someone needs to tell him.

I think it is repulsive. If he winked at me I would suggest to the media that he made a pass at me. Implicate that he has a gay streak!
