11. Perl is an interpreted language... |
|
That must have the perl program running in the background or as a daemon on Linux. The process reads and interprets the script and makes the magic happen. If you were to read a raw perl script, you would think that someone had printed a screen dump of static(In fact, some of the perl geeks I know speak in static...). That said, a good perl script is very powerful and can make a computer dance, sing and play the guitar.
Some of these scripts that allow these slugs to manipulate online polls are written in perl.

12. Where to get perl scripts |
|
Edited on Sat Oct-09-04 05:23 PM by iamtechus
First, you need to have the (free) perl interpreter installed on your computer. Use google to find it. Perl is available for just about any computer system -- windows, linux, mac, vax etc.

It seems that you can vote as many times as you want just by going back and forth, which is exactly what someone may be doing. For the numbers to go like this either means CNN keeps "adjusting" or someone(s) else_ is doing a number.

|
makes me strongly suspect the Freeps are running some bots that are just voting again and again. I've seen them brag about such programs in the past...sounds like it would be simple (and creepy and immoral) for them to make such things.
They suck. CNN needs to announce clearly that the poll is a crock and move on.

8. CNN has zero credibility |
|
Their polls even less. Hell, given their antics the other night over the on-line poll, I have no reason to believe that anyone even voted in this new poll. They probably are just typing in the numbers that appeal to them.
Kent Brockman has as much journalistic credibility as CNN; John Stewart has infinitely more.

Have Foxnews polls or any other known right-wing website polls changed dramatically like this? No. In fact, the last time I looked at Fox it was a tie. Haven't looked since noon, so I could be wrong. But clearly the CNN poll did an about face.

33. Screw the Freeped Polls |
|
Every national poll that I've seen show Kerry won the debate.
It was interesting watching the McCoughlin Group tonight. John, a life-long republican conservative, is openly supporting and defending John Kerry. He thinks the Bush Administration is dangerous, reckless and has to go before they do more damage to America's credibility in the world.
When a conservative like McCoughlin backs Kerry strongly, the handwriting is on the wall for Shrub.

It started during the RNC and has continued ever since. The CNN polls appeared to be unfreeped until this week.
As somebody pointed out it could be internal freeping by employees as well.

..you run a script and obviously make the online poll defective (as in * winning-clearly defective)..the goal is skew the results so badly and so obviously that it gets media attention, so that noone gives them any credibility whatsoever for future/past real wins by Kerry.
Seems to me that it only proves that you are supporting a candidate (*) that needs some desperate help to try to erase the truth.
Just my 2 cents.
