Moveon organizing a boycott?
Anyone else hear of this?

Boycott Sinclair

Msg: 1198 of 1202

MoveOn.org will be organizing a boycott of advertisers on Sinclair stations, and doing the usual e-mail bomb of the FCC to yank their licenses, or so I hear from a friend who works there. 2 million zombies checking their e-mail and forwarding the directive to a gazillion more. Not good. I'd hate to be the PR dude or dudette over there.

No doubt, someone will, and it will be BIG.

1. So if you're politically active
you're a zombie?
Funny how this zombie already had planned to boycott the station. (Clairvoyant zombie?) Move On will only make it easier.

11. things sure have changed
now if you're alert and active and trying to make a positive change in the world - paying attention to politics and what the corporations are doing with the public airwaves you're a zombie.

used to be you just had to rise from the dead and walk around with your arms stretched out in front of you and eat a bunch of human flesh....like dick cheney...hey....wait a minute...

2. Moveon, DU,
Bartcop, every fucking progressive website out there. It'd be nice to get Moore and (dare I dream?) Springsteen involved. If not Springsteen, then any number of other well known figures. Something must be done!

5. Sinclair also refused to broadcast Nightline's reading of war dead
Siclair stations refused to broadcast Ted Koppell's reading of the names of all the soldiers killed in Iraq with some nonsense that it was "designed to undermine the troops in Iraq".

Typical fascist corporate media propaganda. We're all supposed to be good little subjects of the Leader and accept whatever death toll He deems necessary for world conquest.

9. I'm not familiar with Moveon.org's stategies
What do you think they have planned? If it calls for a boycott, I'm all for it. Are there any of these stations in Texas? Even if there aren't, I'm sure some of their advertisers have their products/services here.

Any info. or speculation about what may be coming is much appreciated! :hi:

10. and the CEO is a sexual predator with a criminal record!
yes, ladies and gents, the man- David D. Smith- is a GENUINE freak who likes to solicit all kinds of deviant sexual services from disgusted ladies of the night... and if rumors are true, some of them may NOT have been LADIES... wink, wink... do you know what I mean? Sometimes it's hard to tell in the dark, cruising those shadowy street corners in a frenzy of lust... and one never knows when one casts out their line, what they might CATCH... wink, wink. In fact, if rumors are true, he may have CAUGHT something that CAN'T be thrown back. It couldn't have happened to a nicer person- if it happened at all.

Pittsburgh Post-Gazette (Pennsylvania)

August 17, 1996, Saturday, SOONER EDITION

David D. Smith, president and chief executive officer of Sinclair Broadcast Group, was arrested this week in his hometown of Baltimore and charged with a misdemeanor sex offense. Sinclair owns WPGH, the Fox affiliate in Pittsburgh, and programs most of WPTT.

The Baltimore Sun reported that Smith, 45, was arrested Tuesday night in an undercover sting at a downtown corner frequented by prostitutes.

On Thursday night, Sinclair issued a statement that Smith's arrest was unrelated to company business and ''The company will continue to operate under the direction of its current management.''

This is a horrible idea. It looks like Sinclair is more interested in the election than protecting their shareholders...

Depending on what happens in the coming days, I may unload the stock.

no, but here's a contact list of their institutional investors. if pressure is applied to one of them, they'll either a) privately tell sinclair to knock it off, or b) sell their position, sending this stock down the tubes.
