Dean on FOX News.......
Edited on Sun Jan-11-04 10:51 PM by in_cog_ni_to
He was asked about Sharpton attacking him about not having any miorities in his cabinet for any of his terms as Governor AND what he said about the Iowa caucuses. Here's what Dean said.....

"Frankly, I think people are tired of debating about who said what, when or who did what... 4 years ago, 6 years ago or 10 years ago."

I guess that means he won't debate Clark on who he voted for 20-30 years ago. He won't debate Clark on his praise of republicans. He won't debate Clark about whether he's a Democrat or Republican. Good! Nice to know. Don't you think?

Hypocritical statement, considering the flier that was handed out at the Clark functions. sheesh!

on edit...I forgot to include the caucuses question. It may make more sense now. :7

1. How is FOX News spinning the debate?
Are they spinning it like Dean won handily?

2. Dean doesn't want to talk about who he was pre-2002
for very good reasons.

8. BS
Dean can attack ANY candidate based on what they said 10 years ago, but he hardly ever does it. In fact when Gephardt was attacking him about what Dean said in the 90s, Dean could have came back with MANY quotes from Gephardt that were AGAINST abortion; pro-faith based programs; against social security and what not. Of course he didn't.

Fact is the only way these people CAN attack Dean is by bringing up stuff he said many years ago. It's sad really.

11. What is Dean if not the sum total of his actions and words over the past
14 years in public life.

He is a very different candidate compared to his record as governor. That's why he keeps trying to devalue the notion that one needs to be accountable for their past actions.

It isn't BS.

5. What America really needs is military guidance
A strong Father figure. A former general (fired for undisclosed reasons, of course) would be perfect!

Say, isn't the "President" of Pakistan a general, too? Maybe Clark and Musharraf can get together and compare career highlights after we enshrine our new Daddy symbol.

9. Come to think of it
Clark isn't releasing the information about his speaking engagements.

Considering he was a very active lobbyist for the past couple of years, it's not outside the realm of possibility that he may have done some work for other Heads of State.

Their money's still green, after all.

14. True, I'm sure CMB and Joe Lieberman offered much worthy of debating
They always make the debates SOOOO fascinating. I'll bet upwards of 75 people watched this one.

But I did learn something from this debate. How many minority cabinet members did Dean appoint during his lengthy (11 year) administration as governor of Vermont? 10? 7? 4? 2? 1? No, not even one minority male or female in Vermont between 1991 and 2002 was worthy of inclusion in Howard Dean's cabinet.

Wonder how many minorities Wes Clark promoted to major positions during the same period?

15. I think you're seeing a kinder, gentler Dean
as he's trying to wrap up the nomination. He's looking forward to the campaign against Bush and doesn't want to alienate any of the other Democratic candidates, soon to be his allies.
