Sinclair: hit 'em where it hurts
But Sinclair said Monday that it now expects net broadcast revenue of $163.7 million in the third quarter. The company cited weakness in automobile advertising spending, as well as cancellations of ads on the company's eight Southeastern television stations during the recent hurricanes.

Sinclair releases third-quarter earnings Nov. 4.

Company shares fell 13 cents to $7.30 in Monday afternoon trading.

1. Heard this on a newscast on a local talk radio station
I'd forgotten Sinclair was the one that failed to broadcast that Nightline episode some months ago when Ted Koppel read the names of soldiers killed in combat. They called that a political stunt.

Hmmmm....

3. Sadly, Those Revenues Come Right From Big Agencies...But...

Methinks Sinclair NEEDS the manchild around...and here's the reason why:

Looks like they need one hell of a 4th quarter to get back to where they started the year at. They're gladly taking the Slimeboaters money. These companies buy bulk with the large corporations...one price fits all kinda thing. The suits on Madison Avenue (probably some GOOP 30'something) buy strictly "by the numbers"...meaning on ratings. There's other games they play as well, but it's hard to hurt a company this huge at that level.

The way to make 'em squirm is to give them PR black eyes on the local level. As stated earlier, there are ways we CAN make their lives a living hell...especially for the owners and stockholders...the ones who need to feel it the most.

Alas another post, and the last one on this topic, since I expect this to sink off the page and into oblivion...oh well, I tried.

You've undoubtedly heard that they are forcing all their stations to air an anti-Kerry documentary just before the election. Well, I monitor the liberal blogs and sites and I gotta tell you there is a bloody fury brewing. Don't assume that liberals are pussies. At this point they are so freaking mad and energized that they'll do whatever it takes to bring this company down. Stay away. You don't want to see your capital incinerated because this family business wants to use the business to push a political agenda. Put your money somewhere else until the storm blows over. Hey, maybe this stock will be an excellent buy at $2 in a couple weeks.

Here is a list of the main stockholders:

no, but here's a contact list of their institutional investors. if pressure is applied to one of them, they'll either a) privately tell sinclair to knock it off, or b) sell their position, sending this stock down the tubes.

9. wouldn't it be funny if
Sorros shorted the stock and then bought the company on the cheap, forming the basis of a liberal television empire?
