Comments from the Undecided Voters at 2nd Debate
<snip>

Of those queried afterward, most said they remained undecided. That included Michaelson, 28, a software salesman, who asked President George W. Bush who he would select to fill any vacancies on the Supreme Court. The president said that he wanted judges who would strictly interpret the Constitution. His Democratic opponent, Sen. John Kerry, said he would seek those who were simply good judges. Afterward, Michaelson said, "I was not expecting a definitive answer. (Bush) reiterated what I've heard from the news. It was an answer I expected on both sides." Still, Michaelson now is leaning towards Kerry.

Long, a registered nurse, also remained undecided - although she preferred Bush's response to her question.
She had asked Kerry: "Thousands of people have already been cured or treated by the use of adult stem cells or umbilical cord stem cells. However, no one has been cured by using embryonic stem cells. Wouldn't it be wise to use stem cells obtained without the destruction of an embryo?" Kerry said that he supported such research as alternative to allowing the embryos to remain frozen or be destroyed. Bush cited his decision to allow federal funding only of existing embryonic stem cells, and not to expand the program.

Audrey Parker of De Soto: "It was wonderful. I'm still undecided." So what did she get out of her participation? "To find out they're real humans after all."

1. "Long, a registered nurse..."
"Wouldn't it be wise to use stem cells obtained without the destruction of an embryo?"

Unless I've been told the wrong thing, you don't have to destroy an embryo to get embryonic stem cells. Am I mistaken? Someone help me please because if I'm right, this lady ain't a nurse, or she's a real effing bad one.

4. Great question!

Where do stem cells come from?
Pluripotent stem cells are isolated from human embryos that are a few days old. Cells from these embryos can be used to create pluripotent stem cell "lines" —cell cultures that can be grown indefinitely in the laboratory. Pluripotent stem cell lines have also been developed from fetal tissue obtained from fetal tissue (older than 8 weeks of development).

I thought after birth might be viable, but am not sure. Will search further, but here's a website to get you started.

3. Amen to that!
These are probably the same fucking idiots who take 10 minutes to figure out how to use their ATM card at the supermarket check-out line.

10. I agree.
People should have to take a short quiz before they are allowed to vote at the polls. Maybe 5 simple questions. If they can't pass the quiz they don't get to vote.

1.What country do you live in?
2.What is the difference between night and day?
3.What day follows Tuesday? Must be spelled correctly.
4.Can elephants fly?
5.Do you pick your nose in public?

12. Oh, man, I hope not
I am a grocery store cashier part-time and I have to deal with people like that all the fucking time. I'm sorry, but I'm going to have to pretend what you said has no chance of being true, because I won't be able to sleep at night with the thought that people like that will be deciding this election.

"Press the yes button, ma'am."
(Customer presses the "no" button)
"Ma'am, you need to press the yes button."
(Customer presses the "no" button)
"Ma'am, the yes button. It's right there."
Customer: "I don't want any cash back."
(Customer presses the "no" button)
"Ma'am, it's asking if the amount is OK, it says it right there on the screen. You need to press yes."

*explodes*

22. You fail to recognize that
she probably just came from ANOTHER card reader that asked the questions in reverse. Programming them all the same is not the way of the computerized world. ;-)

8. Undecideds and swing voters are people who need to watch less TV,
and need to read up about ideology and issues.

They are basically lazy, uninformed and selfish. They want to be able to plop themselves down and just watch what the candidates say and do in order to make a decision, instead of doing a little homework. They watch the election like they watch TV. They don't want to put in any effort whatsoever. They don't want to go beyond "common sense" and simple observation.

All of this is really simple folks: learn the difference between a liberal and a conservative, a Democrat and a Republican, and see where you fit in ! End of story. This is not an election about John Kerry or George Bush, so stop trying to make a decision based upon their personal characteristics or some little phrase they utter. This is an ideological battle over the direction of this country, as most elections are. Once you know where you fit into this battle, and where the candidates fit into this battle - the decision is extremely easy.

9. Yeah...all my hope was pretty much lost with this comment:
<snip>
So what did she get out of her participation? "To find out they're real humans after all."
<snip>

If it took her being at the presidential debate to come to the realization that the candidates are, in fact, real people...she's not capable of making a decision on anything else. That is, until she loses her job, loses her health care, or loses her kids who get drafted to go to battle for the Chimp. It's sad that such "indecision" may lead to her "finding out" about the issues the hard way.

5. Of course the anti-abortion lady who asked the stem cell question
would prefer Bush's response. It was a wedge issue question and she was already for Bush.

14. Yep
I knew when she fucking ASKED the question that she was an undercover bush supporter. You don't have to have but about seven brain cells firing to have seen that! She was so damn obvious.

19. After the debate Kerry was shaking hands in the crowd around her and
she avoided him. She's no "soft" Bush supporter but a dyed-in-the wool freep-a-zoid.

17. Actually, I saw her on an interview with Deborah Norville
(only watched to see the Daily Show crew), and she said it was totally unscripted. She told Norville the interviewees were caught off guard by her questions and the atmosphere was very tense afterwords.

21. Yep!
They also love the attention. Ooh, I'm an undecided, I'M GOING TO BE ON TV! If their minds aren't made up by now these people are too stupid to vote or reproduce. I'm at a point where I want them to just make a goddam decision. Of course I'd prefer they choose Kerry, but make a decision and get out of the way.

20. I *loved* Kerry's Abortion Answer.
And I'm okay with the lady who asked the "stem cell research" thing. Kerry gave honest answers to both, and these are REAL issues for some people. I love JFK!!! :)
