Panel grades performances at 2nd Debate
Post staff report
If debates made presidents, said Richard
Rooney, John Kerry would be moving into 1600
Pennsylvania Ave. come January.
"There's no question that Kerry won," Rooney, a
member of the Voice of the Voter panel, said
shortly after watching the second presidential
debate Friday night
Voice of the Voter, a joint project of The Post and
WNKU-FM, is tracking the opinions of the panel
through the 2004 presidential campaign season.
Rooney, 60, a part-time comptroller from
Sharonville, was one of five Voice of the Voter
panel members interviewed after the debate.
He said Kerry stood out in Friday night's square-
off because he was "much warmer" and calmer
than the president, and more articulate.
Bush was more aggressive and "much
improved" over his performance in the
two men's first debate, Rooney said.
