What is Bush's obsession with OB/GYNs |
|
I just saw a campaign ad now trying to frighten women into thinking that all OB/GYNs are pretty much packing up shop and probably moving to Canada where illegal 3rd world drugs are sold (ok, I made up that last part about Canada).
But seriously, I'm a woman and I know women and no one has ever mentioned they've had issues with getting mammograms or OB/GYN visits.
Is Bush nuts or did I know that already?

But, I can guarantee, OB/GYN's have never received so much attention in a political campaign. * is definitely obsessed.
I love the part about Canada selling 3rd world drugs. They get American drugs and sell them cheap!

2. It's pretty obvious - he equates their practice with "Love" |
|
He fantasizes about looking at and poking around on exposed women all day.

9. I don't know how it is for the country at large |
|
but it is an issue in Ohio. Even if only in my area. A lot of OB's have retired early or left the state.
I don't believe the crap *, is spouting though.
Aren't insurance co. profits deeply tied into investments and the stock market? If those investments aren't performing because the economy is a bust do they just throw their hands up and say 'oh well, we're turning the corner'? It's genius really. Raise rates to cover for investment losses and blame it on malpractice.

15. I respect the fact that there is an issue |
|
but does Bush need to have creepy commericials aimed at frightening folks by distorting the facts. And yet he says nothing about what he would do (or should have done these past 4 years).

|
there are parts of the country where obgyn's are having a tough time making it in their practice. with the insurance premiums way to high on them and they cannot make it to survive. they cant get into hospitols and small towns are haing it bad, women are having to go to larger towns to find a doctor

practicing their love is really hard work.
* is trying to slam K/E refusal to vote for a bill that would protect gynos from frivolous lawsuits. The bill was really poorly written but * wants to spin it as though K/E are against tort reform.

12. you really want to know? |
|
bush probably hasn`t had sex in - years? he also may have an infantile sexual outlook about women. what i mean is this code world for you know where..i`ve heard alot of guys say the same thing ,of course, the cruder version.i have always found it offensive probably because i am an adult with a fairly adult outlook on sex and sexual relations. to me these types of guys may just have more problems than their macho image portrays thus the famous-"he has a pretty mouth" is a red flag to me... it could be code words for anti-abortion people also or he`s just afraid of women or hell who knows what goes on in his brain when he speaks!

13. Some OB-Gyns in this country have quit delivering babies |
|
because their malpractice insurance has gotten so steep. This has happened for two reasons: first, people think they are guaranteed perfect infants with no maternal complications and second, insurance companies are compensating for lowered stock market earnings by raising their rates. Doctors who catch babies are caught in the middle, and a few have quit.
Doctors in other specialties have been socked with higher rates by insurance companies trying to compensate for losses on their backs, but OB-Gyns have been hit the hardest. Docs in other specialties have also quit, but in fewer numbers.
The malpractice lawsuite that Bush likes to yowl about are rarely frivolous if they see the inside of a courtroom, since both injury and professional misconduct must be present to bring a case.
I wonder how much Bush would have sued for had Laura's doctor shown up drunk and injured his daughters at birth...

16. But the $64,000 question is this: |
|
If Edwards wasn't a trial lawyer would Bush/Cheney even cared about this issue? And if they cared so much why has it suddenly become a campaign issue now and not something he should have worked on these past 4 years?

18. As the other posters have indicated, it's because obstetricians are the |
|
"poster children" of medicine for having the most severe pressures on their practice from malpractice suits and high premiums. And since Edwards made part of his practice from suits regarding obstetric cases, it is the Bush campaign shorthand for reinforcing the idea that K/E will ruin medicine in America by letting lawsuit mania run amok.
