Kerry's Photo On The Cover Of the NY Times Magazine

What do you think? To me Kerry seems like a nice teacher or doctor or something. Bush in a similar pose would probably look like a grocery store bagger.

3. It's interesting because it's not an expression you see from Kerry often.
There's nothing wrong with that expression and it sort of rounds out his character. It makes you feel like you've learned something new about his personality. It gives him another dimension. I say it's worth a couple thousand votes.

5. to me it looks like how you'd see him if he was up close
It's much more intimate than the normal campaign photos. There's no pomp and arrogance in his face.

4. His eyes look so very sad ...
But, considering all he's seen in his life, that's no surprise.

It's not a flattering photo, IMO.

6. grocery store bagger
My first response is that grocery store bagger is probably Bush's true highest and best calling. He most elevated position that he can aspire to for which he is truly qualified.

7. If bush* was a grocery store bagger he'd put the canned goods on top
of the bread.

9. Not only is it a great photo of Kerry, but the Times article, while
not 100% positive, is such a great presentation of Kerry's approach to foreign policy, that I don't think a person with a brain could read it and not agree. The stark contrast between Bush's dead-end, go-it-alone, cold war mentality and Kerry's thoughtful approach is well presented. Why I've never had a "rah-rah" reaction to candidate Kerry, I certainly do now. This guy so knows what he's talking about.

John Kerry: Now that's foreign policy!

10. I like it
He's looking directly at the camera - most photos of him show him looking over or to the side of the camera. It's not a heroic pose, but it looks like an honest, decent person who isn't afraid to look you in the eye.

It is different, but I keep going back to it and I like it.

11. I don't much like it- but the Times
often chooses unflattering pictures of people for its cover, for some reason. He does look sad, or very tired, and older than he looks in person or in other photos.

19. I like it
He looks serious -- and LISTENING.

He actually looks empathic -- something he's not known for (in the press anyway).

He looks like he's listening to the photographer tell him a story. I LIKE it a lot.
