We don't want to give the Sinclair corruption any free publicity
That the Sinclair group will run a 42-minute anti-Kerry commercial a few days before the election is bad enough. I say we learn from what happened with The Passion of Christ and Fahrenheit 9/11 and totally ignore Sinclair. If we do anything, we should try to find a way to give people alternative to Sinclair at the time they run the anti-Kerry movie.

1. Someone already brought that up. It's illogical.
Sinclair is running in 24% of the TV market. THEY are going to hype the movie themselves, on their stations. I refuse to back down on this... it's wrong, it's against campaign law, and I'm sick of fuckheads like Sinclair trying to take away our democracy. I will not be silent. What has being silent ever gotten us?

2. I think we should direct our energy elsewhere
Let's try to get a network to run a proKerry movie or at least run some kind of a special. There's no way we can stop them from showing the movie any more than they could stop Fahrenheit 9/11 from being distributed. The best we can hope for is that people see the movie as a sleazy piece or propaganda or don't see it at all.

4. What the hell?
Its wrong what they are doing and we are reponding to it its unfair that they get to show an anti-kerry documentary and we don't (don't even think about giving me that BS about trying to run a pro-kerry/anti-bush movie its not gonna happen) please people ignore this thread and continue the fight.

If we remain silent they win

3. I say we bide our time until their stations come up for FCC review
and then we launch a serious campaign of formal complaints to the FCC that serving a narrow partisan interest is NOT serving the public's interest, and we the public want their licenses revoked. All of them. All over the country. One by one.

We can do this one, folks, and it will be effective.

Also effective will be letters to the networks about their few major media outlet stations. Inform the networks of a boycott until they drop those stations from their network roster.

This has less chance of success, but will alert the networks that there is a big problem at Sinclair.

What most folks forget is that WE own the airwaves. Sinclair just owns the studios and the broadcast towers. We can deprive them of the ability to use OUR airwaves to harm us.

If you live in a Sinclair market, watch for the notification that the license is up for review, and alert the DU message board with the station and the local FCC office address. We'll do the rest.

5. Sinclair stations suck
I'm not sure about everyone else's area, but I never watch the sinclair stations in Maryland. Fox45 just plain sucks. The news on it looks like some college kid's show. They also refuse to show the simpsons like every other fox station i know of during the 5-7pm timeslots. I wonder if the simpsons is too liberal for them? Somehow they forced the local comcasts to insert FOX45 into the CHANNEL 5 slot on the cable systems. HOW THE F DID THAT HAPPEN. The DC fox channel, (FOX5), is all the way up at 75 or something. The DC fox is actually a real station too. Anyone else here from the Balt/DC area know whats behind all this?

They also "own" the baltimore WB channel, which explains why the news on the WB and fox45 are the exact same people. What a joke. Sinclair obviously puts ZERO money into improving their newscasts. They also are dragging their feet with the digital TV transition. I'm ashamed this crazy organization is HQd in my state. If anyone is going to go over to their HQ and protest, start a thread, i'll help out!

You've undoubtedly heard that they are forcing all their stations to air an anti-Kerry documentary just before the election. Well, I monitor the liberal blogs and sites and I gotta tell you there is a bloody fury brewing. Don't assume that liberals are pussies. At this point they are so freaking mad and energized that they'll do whatever it takes to bring this company down. Stay away. You don't want to see your capital incinerated because this family business wants to use the business to push a political agenda. Put your money somewhere else until the storm blows over. Hey, maybe this stock will be an excellent buy at $2 in a couple weeks.
