I notice Kerry seems to have mentioned Enron very sparingly -- once each debate. I hope he is holding his fire for the last debate, because Enron should be a major issue, IMO.
"Mr. Bush, (note the Mr.) your biggest contributor was Ken Lay of Enron. He is now under indictment after the biggest corporate accounting and bankruptcy scandal in history. When asked about Ken Lay, you misled the press by saying he was a contributor to your opponent. You called him "Mr. Lay" in that interview when you had previously referred to him as "Kenny Boy." And Kenny Boy got to help pick energy regulators in your administration. You let Lay's Enron run amok while you were governor of Texas. Mr. Bush, will you pledge tonight not to pardon Ken Lay?"

Let the blogs do the heavy carrying on that one. If Kerry tries to bring it up I guarantee the media will kill him over it in the post-debate spin whether he makes a valid point with it or not. He can nail Bush on having a backdoor draft, that's it. They can't touch that one.

to current issue (weakening stability of the Pension Gauranty Corp) that is being ignored ... and companies increasingly are raiding funds for pensions to be used on other things (corporate perks?).. then link that back to the unpopular Bail Out of S&Ls (get bush angry by refering to policies with negative connotations for Poppy - and illegal activities of brother Niel.) So many hits with one little item...

3. Apparently, Kenny Boy was on the Heinz Foundation Board |

for a good long time-there is being bandied about a connection there between Kerrys and Enron...of course not as solid and not at all corrupt like the connection between Kenny Boy and cheney bush-they probably don't want the shit to blow up in their faces, media-wise.
I DO see a "bush pardons Kenny Boy" headline in the future-and I'm not even psychic.

4. If Kerry wins, can Bush pardon Lay if he hasn't even gone to trial? |

he can pardon anyone (Ford, Nixon)
also I think that's why they're holding off on the trial, so he can say when asked why not Martha, too? "Well, see, she's a convicted crimnul. She's been convicted of a crahm. An' well, Ken Lay, Kenny Boy as Ah lahk ta call 'im, well he hant been convicted of a crahm." (Bush logic, of course...)
