Forget the so called 'Undecideds'. Rally the base |
|
I want to see Kerry and Edwards in black churches, Senior citizen homes, Speaking at black colleges, and speaking to womens groups.
Kerry has already made the case to the so called undecideds. They already know if they're sick of Bush or thirsty for more. We need to get young people, women, and minorities to the polls.

in particular, rally the alienated base, formerly known as liberal. Kerry's America is strong enough, now let's see Kerry deliver a little more of Edward's America, and Kucinich's America.

...give the Repuke propaganda machine more ammo for their "LIBERALS! OH LORDY, LIBERALS EVERYWHERE!" line of attack.
Moderation will bring the undecideds our way - and we NEED undecideds.

Normally I get mad when they take their base for granted and cater to the all-elusive middle, but I don't really see Kerry blatantly doing that.
The thing is, Bush is rallying. He's so obviously pandering to his base. Strange move 3 weeks before the election and in front of national audiences... and it proves one thing. They're REALLY worried about cracks in their base. This is fabulous news and news we can capitalize on.
Our base is solid. We're determined and fired-up. Kerry's best course of action is to continue on like he's been because I do believe there are moderate and disenchanted Republicans he can swing by continually attacking Bush on his failures.
As far as the undecideds - I agree. "So called". Undecideds at this point are likely either lying (to appear more balanced so their views are listened to), completely apathetic to the point that they might not even vote, or unhappy Republicans that don't want to vote for Bush but are really unsure on Kerry. I think we can win some of them - and if we do - that will be the nail in the coffin.

Theoretically, you could have made the argument a year ago "After 3 years of Bush, if the base doesn't support Kerry by this time then the rece is already lost."
And then the base would have been ignored or taken for granted, and on 11/3 we would be scratching our heads wondering why the base wasn't energized enough to get off their asses and vote in Kerry.
The argument is jsut as off today as it would have been a year ago.
Kerry, the DNC, you, and me have to energize as much of the base as we can individually and collectively reach. Take NOTHING for granted, leave NOTHING to chance, fight for EVERY FUCKING VOTE because it DOES matter.
If anyone hasn't figured out that every vote counts by this point, then I serioulsy doubt whether they ever will.
