Talked to a woman while on the phone banks today who said at her church |
|
today her minister told the congregation they should all vote for Bush because he was the only real Christian. Can you believe that? This woman was so upset, she and her husband are now considering leaving this church.

2. And after she leaves, she should report them to the IRS. |
|
They just blew their tax-exempt status.

Just tell the head dude at your Democratc HQ. They'll probably be glad to turn them in.

9. If you blow the whistle on one... |
|
you'd have to blow the whistle on ALL of them, including all of the black churches that openly support Kerry, not to mention the ones that let him do photo ops...
I think the more appropriate thing to do is send a public service message to all church pastors reminding them not to cross the line and publicly endorse any candidate.

Because politics and black churches are so mixed, you can't tell the difference.
I speak from experience. I was president of a local community redevelopment board at one time. Many of our meeting were at a local church. And don't even think about starting a meeting without having someone do an invocation, regardless of where that meeting is being held.
I think all churches should be taxed anyway, but now is not the time to start. After the election, this is a serious issue that a Democratic Congress will have to address.

17. It's legal for churches to do photo-ops with a candidate. |
|
It's illegal for churches to tell people which candidate to vote for.

22. They have no obligation to investigate the Black Church's |
|
They of their own knowledge can report to the IRS but before they do they should notify the Church authorities the position the Preacher is putting them in. When I said no obligation to investigate I am saying there is no requirement to go looking. No church should be used to advocate for a particular candidate. Especially not the Godless bu$h CABAL.

4. If he said this from the pulpit during a church service, report to IRS |
|
They should lose their tax-exempt status. An endorsement of Bush here led to an IRS investigation - probably nothing came of it, but still worth a complaint.

6. But only as long as it remains a voting block |
|
Geez, if I thought Bush represented true Christianity, I'd become a Jew.
My pastor, publically neutral, has said that though he voted for Bush in 2000, he CAN'T do it again. He's just got to get comfortable with Kerry now.
But my pastor would never tell the congregation what to do. What denomination is this?

7. Kerry spoke at a church today. If we complain about Bush supporters |
|
Won't it just lead to everyone on both sides fighting over it? I don't see how it could not hurt both sides.

If the GOP wants to enforce the separation of church and state, let them come out for the separation of church and state.
We've got plenty of work to do undoing their attempts to disenfranchise minority voters. I say fix that first.
Fairness is only going to be possible when we get the upper hand in society and government. At this time, there's a clear and dramatic difference regarding the number of illegal and shameful tricks the GOP is pulling.

but I could not continue to go to that church.
I would have to tell the minister that anyone who thinks Bush is a true Christian does not love Christ.

10. I walked out of a church one time |
|
when anti-Semetic remarks were made. Before I left, I told them that the Holocost was caused by mindsets like that.
I hope your folks leave that church and find one that is more liberal-and less likely to politicize from the pulpit.

Anti-women comments were made, way too much jezebel bullshit. Right in front of my 13 year old daughter. I walked out, after I blasted them for being hypocritical asses. Last time I ever went to any church, sick of all of it. But I guarantee had I heard that bushit at a church, I'd stood up, blasted them, and walked out. I don't know why people put up with this crap. "Considering" leaving the church??? What the hell is there to consider.

If only there was something documented that we could show people to *prove* that Bush's actions are NOT in line with what Jesus taught.
Like a book, or something....
Oh well.

23. A "Christian" who never attends church |
|
Worth pointing out and spreading around. The guy claims to be a devout Christian, but he never attends services. His people say it's "security reasons," but that never stopped other presidents. Another resemblence between him and Reagan, b.t.w., who also never showed his face inside a church if it wasn't some kind of state occasion.
