Bush Attacks Kerry for 'Dour Pessimism'

CHANHASSEN, Minn. (Reuters) - President Bush sought momentum on Saturday from his second debate with Democratic Sen. John Kerry by attacking Kerry for saying he has a consistent position on Iraq and would not raise middle-class taxes.

"Who's he trying to kid?" Bush told thousands of cheering supporters in the Minneapolis suburb of Chanhassen. "He can run, but he can't hide."

3. That reminds me of a funny story involving an execution 90 years ago

I read a story about the famous writer/reporter Ben Hecht I believe; he was assigned to cover the hanging of a man who killed his wife. After the execution he was getting ready to wire the story to his newspaper, his editors wired him first telling him that World War I had just broken out in Europe. They told him to avoid the gruesome details of the hanging as to not upset their readers.

Hecht wired back "Will try to make the hanging as cheerful and optimistic as possible."
