Scary B/C Billboards: "Boots or Flip-Flops?" |
|
I recently moved out into the boonies a bit. Now on my way to work I pass two unsightly billboards (no doubt owned by Viacom).
They have no images on them, just text with a red and blue flag-like background. And BUSH in big white letters in the corner. One says:
BOOTS OR FLIP FLOPS?
And the other:
ONE NATION _UNDER_ GOD.
And UNDER is underlined. I'm not sure I really get that one, aside from the obvious reference to the Pledge of Allegiance - but why is UNDER underlined but not GOD? It's really annoying. There aren't a whole lot of billboards out there, and these two are within about 10 miles of each other.
Anyone else see these? Or other slogans?

Probably references the nutjobs that INSIST that the bible be legislated, ie, god rules the land. It's a "Who needs the Constitution when you have the bible" nentality.

9. And we're _beneath_ the authority |

So we can't question it - Don't ask WHY God does what he does...

14. If I had to stomp through, Bush'sbullshit, you know I'd be wearing boots |
|
Then, I'd take those flip-flops and shove them up his ass. Bush doesn't own boots anymore than he owns the American flag.

4. here are my fantasy answers/comments to elaborate on their billboards: |
|
1. circle the word "FLIP-FLOPS" and add: they're more comfortable and adaptable to terrain change
2. is that the missionary position?

I drive from Grass Lake to Ann Arbor. The billboards are near Chelsea along I-94 (10-15 miles west of Ann Arbor).

But I think I'm already pushing my luck driving around out here with my "Bush is a Punk-Ass Chump" and "how many lives per gallon" bumper stickers. These guys in their big-ass, clean and shiny pick-ups and their wives in their Ford Excursions don't like that too much.
Disclaimer: Not meant as a blanket judgment on those with big cars. I understand they are practical and useful, and considering how tiny I feel in my little Hyundai I can imagine they feel safer on the roads these days surrounded by all the other trucks and SUVs.

12. A weird billboard I saw |
|
Not campaign related, but icky.
It said "Now that we have PROOF that golf builds character..." and goes on to advertise for a golf camp for kiddies.
Bush's picture wasn't on it, but neither was any other celebrity, not even a famous golf player. Since they love to pretend he is a man of "character" (which is total bunko), I wondered if this was referring to His Chimperial Majesty. Icky.

This weekend I saw a few stars & stripes car ribbon stickers with One Nation Under God on them. I hadn't seen these before. Remember when we were One Nation Indivisible, right after 9/11? That's all over I guess, now we're UNDER God or we're not American it appears.
