Fahrenheit 9/11 Rocked!!!! |
|
My wife and I just purchased and watched the movie and I loved it! I didn't know if I would hear anything new and I'm NOT voting for Bush anyway, so I wasn't in a huge rush to see the movie but I did pick up on a few tidbits of information, especially some of the information about the economic ties between Bush and the Saudis and supposedly Karzai in Afghanistan. I got to see all of the major "notorious" comments by Bush and other administration officials. Also, I heard that Bush's car was pelted by eggs during inauguration day. I hadn't heard about THAT but then again I was pretty much in a news "coma" after election night 2000. I also didn't know that Fox News was the station that got the ball rolling on the election "reversal" in Bush's favor but I'm not TOO surprised. I remember that night pretty vividly and the sudden reversal of the major networks in favor of Bush. I also didn't know about the congressional resolution contesting the election that some members of the House sponsored but were unable to get any support on from the Senate. WTF! For as much news that I listen to and watch on a daily basis, especially back then, I can't believe that I missed some of these things! My wife had no clue about the report that the administration allegedly flew the Bin Laden family out of the country in the days following 9-11. It wasn't news to me hanging out as much as I usually do on the Internet but I'm sure that she is far from being the only one who didn't have any clue about that, which is kind of scary. I thought that Moore's use of clips and voice-over narration made for some genuinely entertaining moments. I laughed my ass off during the scene with him at the school and Moore's accompanying narration, as well as the segment about terror alerts. Seeing and hearing John Ashcroft sing was another highly entertaining moment as well. The Iraq war section was a bit more subdued but I was kind of appalled at the interview with the soldiers who initially went into Baghdad and how casual they seemed about attacking Iraq talking about listening to music while they attacked. I'm looking forward to watching the special features tomorrow. I don't feel, as some people have suggested, that Moore is trying to tell people what to think but is merely raising some questions. If you haven't seen it, buy it or rent it and show it to all of your friends. Hopefully, you might be able to convince somebody how important this upcoming election really is. Thank you for a wonderful movie, Mr. Moore.

5. Democrats made a deal for power sharing in the Senate. |
|
The deal was they would share power in the evenly divided senate, and they would not protest the election. The election was already a forgone conclusion, because the Florida legislature was controlled by the Republicans.

6. I thought this was the best movie Moore has made. |
|
When the coWard was first appointed, I had no idea the media was in his pocket, so the scene on inauguration day with his limo being pelted by eggs was new to me.

8. We just watched it for the first time too. I already knew what most |

of the "bombshells" were going to be, but it was nice (and scary) to have a handy recap like that. It made me even more furious, and even more baffled that * has so many supporters.
I'm so glad that there are still a few people out there swimming against the tide, and doing real journalism. Because the mainstream press most certainly is not.

10. We watched it this weekend |
|
Very good and contained a lot of things that I didn't know about, including the egging. The parts that struck me were the parts with the troops. If you listened to the "liberal media" you would think all the troops support Bush and the war. We need to rate this movie up on Netflix, Amazon and all the other internet outlets so that we can get more people to watch it.

The one point my buddy made was that NONE of the senators signed the objections and he said, well..that means Kerry and Edwards didn't sign it either. I was at a loss for words at that point, he is voting bush out of office so it really didn't matter. It is a very powerful movie.

that the reason why none of the Senators signed the objections of the Congressional Black Caucus is because Al Gore asked them not to. Gore felt it would prolong the inevitable.
It's too bad Moore doesn't point that out in the F9/11 because it leaves a bad impression of many fine Senators, such as Wellstone.

16. Yeah, thanks for the reminder |

Now that you mention it, I recall that whole thing. I was in such a pissed off mood at that time that I was just disgusted. I'll make sure I point that out, and yes...Moore maybe should have pointed that out.

Every time Kerry or anyone else mentions the Saudis, he should put the words "our enemey" before it.
Not Iraq, but the real funders and supporters of terrorism, or enemy the Saudis.

And I was even familiar with the content. I "waffled" between being sad and angry. Michael Moore is my hero with all of his movies. I shed a tear for the poor children and the old Iraqi woman. But even more than that I shed a tear for all those young people we have sent there to be turned into killing machines...........for what??? You can see it in their eyes and their speech. This war, as with any war has taken a part of their soul. And the recruiters should be ashamed of their tactics. Go into an area that is already destitute and prey on those that live there? I believe the attitude is "well they don't have much of a future anyway" This whole mess makes me so sad. Unfortunately the people that need to see this movie never will because they would think it un-patriotic.
