It will be a tragedy if Bush wins because of his apparent stupidity
Bush may not be the brightest president ever but he and his handlers know how to connect with the lazy and incurious among us. They know that for this segment of his base, dumbed-down lies are easier to digest than carefully stated truths. This article from the New Yorker cites several instances where he has twisted Kerry's debate statements to appeal to those who won't question their president. How do we get through to these people?

By “global test,” Kerry obviously meant not so much a formal procedure as an attitude—the spirit expressed by the Founding Fathers when they drafted the Declaration of Independence with “a decent respect to the opinions of mankind.” Bush, however, seized on the phrase as an ideal target for ridicule and distortion....

It's a great article:

1. Either he knows what Kerry means
and is only ridiculing and distorting it to win votes from the ignorant among the electorate, or he really believes what he is saying. Which is worse!

2. Hey. His stupidity was and remains well-known. He's got a . . .
paper trail ever since he first ran for congress down in TX. Then more as Governor of Texas. It's miles high.

And anyone w/ 1/2 a functioning brain could tell he wasn't too damn swift after viewing his debates w/ Al Gore! All this so-called "plain talk" that's supposed to be attractive is b.s. Utter b.s. A camouflage job for the unsophisticated and down-right dumb.

Then, as you said, this bozo twists and turns whatever John Kerry says or John Kerry's senate record and the list goes on. How are the blinders removed from these who lick at Dumbya's heels?

Shock em. Plain and simple. And shock em again with truths. In the face truths about their incompetent "hero" George Walker Bush. Make sure it's in monosyllables and not complex sentence structure to further drive it home.

. . . . . . . . . .

remove the word "apparent" from your subject line! It's not "apparent" that Dumbya is dumb; instead, Dumbya IS dumb.

Haven't you been paying attention? heh.

. . . . . . . . . . .

edited to add: Hey, welcome to DU, and thanks for that NewYorker article . . . it's great to read stuff like that! Tis long over-due for the press to write about the stupidity of our president . . . it's like somebody can see that the emperor wears no clothes and publically acknowledges that fact.
