I think of it as a complement when called a liberal. I find nothing degrading about it whatsoever. Websters: of or befitting a man of free birth. given or provided in a generous and openhanded way. Broadminded, tolerant. Not so bad eh?

1. JFK said it beautifully...
What do our opponents mean when they apply to us the label "Liberal?" If by "Liberal" they mean, as they want people to believe, someone who is soft in his policies abroad, who is against local government, and who is unconcerned with the taxpayer's dollar, then the record of this party and its members demonstrate that we are not that kind of "Liberal." But if by a "Liberal" they mean someone who looks ahead and not behind, someone who welcomes new ideas without rigid reactions, someone who cares about the welfare of the people -- their health, their housing, their schools, their jobs, their civil rights, and their civil liberties -- someone who believes we can break through the stalemate and suspicions that grip us in our policies abroad, if that is what they mean by a "Liberal," then I'm proud to say I'm a "Liberal."

6. Amen
I hate when conservatives assume they know how I think. Then they proceed to accuse me of everything from being a communist sympathizer, to a conspiracy theorist, to what's W's newest one, left-wing Internet radicals?

When you use actual quotes and facts to back your points, then they go ballistic and the conversation is over. They usually end up run away ranting and raving about all the bad things you are. Bushbotism is really an amazing phenomena.

2. Not bad at all! Here's JF Kennedy's definition

3. Yes
This is one of the thing I wish we'd see more of. I can understand politically why we don't, but still I wish every liberal politician and commentator would stand up and say "Hey I am a liberal and i'm not going to be intimidated by punks who want to pretend that being a liberal is somehow shameful or embarrasing."
