And I have mixed feelings about this sudden upgrade in security:
*The timing seems suspicious--right before the election the new security measures are put in place.
*Why did it take so long? Three years to basically get bomb-sniffing dogs to patrol the decks?
* A bit of relief that there is some accountability. Anyone can drive anything onto the ferry without it being checked--someone could have a trunk or truck filled with explosives and there were no measures in place to prevent this.
* I also don't think the ferries are a real terrorist target. They are not high profile, do not carry that many people, and are not connected to the type of political/financial institutions that the terrorists (Al Quaeda) seem to be after.
