Hey, if you can't fool the people of Washington into voting GOP you might as well try SCARING them into voting for you!

1. I live in a WA State town that has a ferry and I use it often
And I have mixed feelings about this sudden upgrade in security:

*The timing seems suspicious--right before the election the new security measures are put in place.

*Why did it take so long? Three years to basically get bomb-sniffing dogs to patrol the decks?

* A bit of relief that there is some accountability. Anyone can drive anything onto the ferry without it being checked--someone could have a trunk or truck filled with explosives and there were no measures in place to prevent this.

* I also don't think the ferries are a real terrorist target. They are not high profile, do not carry that many people, and are not connected to the type of political/financial institutions that the terrorists (Al Quaeda) seem to be after.

Here's more local info on the new security measures:

2. Good points. Thank you.
I think they're also trying to bring New Jersey into this now. Gosh, I wonder if that could be politically motivated??!!??
