Sinclair Market Watch...I'm Goin' Down, Down...
Looks like the probing of Sinclair is going on big time. First...the latest from the world of finance...where the REAL Sinclair voters are speaking:

http://ichart.finance.yahoo.com/b?s=SBGI

You can follow this throughout the day at:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=SBGI&t=1d

Also, the message board is burning up...seems lots of dirt about the company is coming up and right in front of the financial world. Join the online fun there at:

http://finance.messages.yahoo.com/bbs?.mm=FN&action=l&board=7083976&tid=sbgi&sid=7083976&mid=1349

Methinks the next station Mr. Smith & his ilk should own should have full or self serve.

Cheers!

1. Just checked their stock again.
It was up earlier this morning, but it's down a bit now, -.02 ($7.48). Let's hope the trend continues.

5. Dead Cat Bounce...
I love this term. This refers to how the stock will jump up after a decline, but each time it pops up it's not as strong as the previous surge...meanwhile the downward trend continues. I've seen this play out in a day and over weeks.

Looks like a bunch of people were good to their word and there was a lot of sell-off in the first hour...and surely Sinclair expected that. Now let's see how they'll counter.

I've seen companies try to stave a dump off by having friendly investors come in and buy up the shortfall...many times they'll buy it around noontime or so...just before lunch so it shows up on the ticker throughout the afternoon, then about 4:45 or so, they dump. Sometimes that last transaction makes it on the ticker and the final price, other times it doesn't show til the next day.

Trust me...whomever handles this company's portfolio today is one pissed Repugnican.

Right before noon today, somebody just bought 16,000 shares to try to prop up the falling price of Sinclair.

8. The Last Hour Will Say A Lot
Don't expect this stock to lose half it's value in one day...only major screw-ups like Merck (I lucked out by bailing on those puppies several months ago ) will dive deep...this one will waiver bit by bit, but over time you'll start seeing things happen.

Also, while we're going ballistic here about this company, many people haven't heard about what's going on. Let's see how the news channels handle this. If there's a lot of Sinclair bashing tonight, tomorrow will be another fun one for them...and the longer this noise goes on the more this spiral will continue...and trust me, there are those out there who are gunning for this company and are having a lot of fun.

BTW...David Brock on CNNservative handing Myles Mindbender his head!!!

Happy investing!!!

Lots of stuff in here to go through, but from it you can see how strong or vulnerable this company really is.

9. Write to these advertisers and tell them you won't buy their products
Kos listed Sinclair's major sponsors at this link http://www.dailykos.com/story/2004/10/10/19162/939

Write to each of them and tell them that you are unhappy that Sinclair is preempting local broadcasting to require affiliates to broadcast political propaganda telling lies about a presidential candidate right before the election.

Tell them that you think that this is unethical and you won't buy their products unless they pull their advertising from Sinclair.

Hit them in their wallets and appeal to their sense of decency. American companies don't like bad publicity and they don't like to lose money. Go for it.

17. Many of these have the same parent company so it's easy
For example: Pepsi and Mountain Dew have the same parent company. Taco Bell, KFC, and I think Hardees have the same parent company, YUM! Brands. Something makes me thiunk Pepsi and Yum are related too, but I might be mistaken. If we go higher up on the food chain, it will require less work and it'd be more effective.

33. Pepsico used to own parts of YUM
Pepsico owned Taco Bell, Pizza Hut, KFC and Frito Lay until sometime in the late 1990's (maybe 1998). The spun off the food service part of the business as Trisomething or other.

This new company bought a bunch of other snacky/prepared food companies and morphed into YUM.

Long and short of it is they are separate now but used to be one company.

Now...now I wonder if there are stop-loss calls going out. Hmmm...maybe some of us should have some fun with the brokerage and investor houses. Sinclair has a ton of debt (I haven't gotten into the Edgars) and maybe some light on these guys would add to the fun.

14. message boards
Finance message boards are notorious for
....uh...impoliteness. Usually full of
libertarians or smartass repugs, but on the Sinclair board the opinion is almost single-mindedly against them using its license for any political purpose, even among posters who self-identify as Republicans. Seems like everyone on the board is either selling or already has.

(For non-market types, "short this pos" means "even if you don't own this piece of shit, borrow it and sell it")

16. Not Sure If We're Seeing The Selling Yet...
Definitely not from the large players. But hopefully this is high on their radars and they're watching like we are. If so, the heat is on Sinclair super high right now. They're gonna try to ride this out...hope everything dies down in 24-48 hours...prop up whatever short losses they have and wish everyone to go away.

The temptation to short this doggie is enticing...obviously, not yet, but a good daytrader could make a couple of bucks over Sinclair's hide on this...playing them like a yo-yo.

The company isn't too large that large sales can't move the price, but from what i'm starting to read, a lot of the shares are locked away in portfolios...and I wonder how many of those managers are onto what's happening.

31. Sinclair stock has been a dog for months!
If you look at the 6 month performance:

http://finance.yahoo.com/q/bc?s=SBGI&t=6m&l=on&z=m&q=l&c=

You'll notice the stock has lost roughly half it's value. I notice the slide really started in May. Isn't that when they refused to air Nightline?

Hell, at least a RW company like Clear Channel values profits and money over politics. I'm starting to kinda like them more every day.

39. Their Brokerage Firm Hates 'Em
Yep...lots of activity today...and someone's had to come to the rescue every time a big dump happens to keep the sale from making too big of an impact that it sets off alerts.

How long they'll be able to play this game will be fun to watch. Depending on whose doing the buying this could go on for a while, but if cash it tight, then we'll start to see that cat not bounce back as quick.

The next couple days will be critical as the news cycle hasn't hit in yet and there are more and more people gathering on the sidelines. Wanna bet Sinclair's quotes are on a lot of bookmarks and tickers now where they weren't on Friday. Any rockin' and rollin' won't go un-noticed.

Unlike their steady slide that's based on poor performance and a bad advertising market...one they could finesse to keep the wolves from the door, the controversy they've created is one they can't.

Couldn't happen to a finer company.

37. Hush Yo Mout...
Cheap Channel is a treat in a different way. Sinclair's been a wingnut bastion for years...so is Salem. These are the worst abusers of the airwaves.

We need to get out the message that Sinclair has a major vested interest in Bunnypants winning...even beyond partisan.

If Kerry wins, Sinclair will probably be forced to sell stations and not able to buy more as the latest attempts at DeReg will be dead and now the door is open to really open up Telcom '96 and clean that mess up.

What with even the former FCC Chairman questioning the legality of Sinclair's upcoming anti-Kerry broadcast. What lies ahead may be months of investigations, accusations, bad publicity. (Remember what happened to Martha Stewart's stock?)

Heck, even if I was a rightwinger, I'd sell my SBGI. If I cared about my portfolio.
