Today, Karl Rove promises: "There's a lot more in Kerry's record that...
...the American people are going to hear and know about by the time it's all over," said Karl Rove, Bush's chief political adviser."

http://news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/ap/20041011/ap_on_el_pr/campaign_rdp_28

Hoping to stunt the momentum the Massachusetts senator gained from a much-praised showing in the first debate and a week of difficult news for Bush on Iraq and the economy, aides are signaling the anti-Kerry arsenal is far from depleted.

"Here I am in the state of New Mexico. George Bush (news - web sites) is still in the state of denial," Kerry told the supportive crowd Sunday. "New Mexico has five electoral votes. The state of denial has none. I like my chances."

Looking ahead to the final debate, Bush is devoting more time to talking about Kerry's record on taxes, health care and other domestic issues. In the process, he is seeking to drive home two main characterizations of his rival: that Kerry is a die-hard liberal and lacks credibility because he tries to paint himself as otherwise. It's the domestic version of the weak, flip-flopping image the Bush team has tried to attach to Kerry on Iraq and the war on terror.

2. Rove: "We distort. CNN, MSNBC, and FOX report!"
When will the media start doing their job--which is, to speak truth to power. They will repeat anything the RNC says. This is a complete abdication of journalistic ethics.

Shame on them! We must hold their feet to the fire!

6. I can't wait for KKKarl Rove
to be banished from the public consciousness. I am so fucking sick of hearing that man's name and seeing his ugly, stupified mug. And I wish just ONE PERSON in the media would point out that Chimpy's whole campaign is based on Kerry's record because his own is one of complete, unabashed failure.

That said, I love Kerry's "state of denial" line. I think the denial meme is a good one.

7. LOL Bush is going for the Mulligan BEFORE the debate!
What a moran!

Looking ahead to the final debate, Bush is devoting more time to talking about Kerry's record on taxes, health care and other domestic issues.

That's too funny! Bush, knowing that his talking points have worn thin with the voters, seems content to establish his code words before the debate. I guess he figures that if he does all of his yapping now, he can sit back and mutter catch phrases on Wednesday night.

What a dummy!

9. Ooooh, scary. We've been hearing this tease for six months now
and nothing ever backs it up.

John Edwards will tell you, if you promise the jury you will show them something, you had better show it: they will be looking for it and notice its absence.

10. One, All and Attn Kerry Campaign
I can't think of a better example of a Damning Shrub Flip-Flop than when:

Bush completely reversed his often said "Top Priority"was to capture/ kill/smoke out "Bring to justice Dead or Alive” Osama bin Laden (OBL) in aftermath of 911 to "Capturing Bin Laden is NOT a top priority in the war on terror".

He said this on a number of occasions when pressed by the media on why OBL was still at large while Shrub was building up for his Sham War on Iraq.

I have not heard Kerry or anyone in his campaign highlight this Ultimate in Flip-Flops, Ultimate in Shocking Policy reversals.

An ad showing Bush's change of mind about the importance of bring OBL to justice would, I think, really shock many Americans because this stunning Flop Flop was lost during the Chaos of the build up to the Iraq invasion.

Kerry should work this into his debate and speeches also. It's political dynamite. Americans will then see how this Cowardly Flip Flopping Little Man changed the focus from capturing/killing the murderous Criminal Master Mind that planned 911 to bringing down a two-bit corrupt dictator that had NOTHING TO DO WITH 911.

Kerry could turn to Bush and say, "Mr. Bush why do you say bringing OBL to justice dead or alive is no longer a top priority in your administration”? “And why have you changed your mind on this”?

Watch Shrub Turn Beat Red, put on that petulant face of his and go on to stammer, stutter, and then say something incredibly stupid in his usual halting way. Guaranteed!

11. Rove/bu$h cannot win on the issues or bu$h's record so...
...they'll smear Kerry instead - anything - true or not, to smear Kerry's character. That's all Republicans know how to do. They can't win any other way. It has always been thus.

Look for Rove to come up with some real Rove-generated slime to hurl at Kerry - it's what he's best at. It worked on McCain. It worked on Gore. It worked on Clinton.

Will people EVER, EVER get wise to this crap?

Boy Genius: Karl Rove, the Brains Behind the Remarkable Political Triumph of George W. Bush
by Lou Dubose, Jan Reid, Carl M. Cannon

From Publishers Weekly
The career and canny rise to power of Karl Rove, the man President Bush calls "boy genius" and some Texans call "Bush's brain," gets a thorough rundown in this entertaining political bio by longtime journalists Dubose, Reid and Cannon. In a breezy, critical style, the authors recount Rove's early fascination with politics, his first political "job" (as a teen rally organizer for Utah Senator Wallace F. Bennett's 1968 re-election campaign) and his first big political prank (stealing stationery from an opposing campaign and inviting outsiders to headquarters for "free beer, free food, girls and a good time for nothing"). In 1980, Rove, who'd spent the previous decade in Washington, D.C., moved to Texas, in part to help with Bush pere's first run for president. He saw vast potential for Republicans in Texas, though it had long been Democratic Party stronghold; during the next 20 years, more than any other single person, Rove turned Texas into a "Republican state." He courted conservative Democrats and recruited attractive, little-known candidates; he built disciplined, well-funded campaign organizations; he reached out to wealthy, conservative constituencies; he used negative information, whether true or not, to derail opposing campaigns; he sometimes fielded several candidates to beat an opponent; and he campaigned not just to win but to destroy his challengers. He also nurtured George W. Bush into a formidable force. (He said, "Political hacks like me wait a lifetime for a guy like this to come along.") Early on, Rove played to Bush's strengths, limiting most of his public appearances to small gatherings and reminding him to repeat the simple themes of his campaigns. As the book puts it about his race against Gov. Ann Richards, "the marathoner Bush just kept coming, always on message." Somewhat snide but definitely enlightening (on the cover "Boy" appears under Bush's picture while "Genius" appears under Rove's), this account offers a detailed look at one of the most powerful politicians in the U.S.

Product Description:
How did George W. Bush-a man of little political experience, little policy know-how, and no clear positions on national issues-become President? How, in the midst of national economic freefall, did the Republicans win complete control of Congress in the 2002 midterm elections? Political insiders credit Karl Rove, a brilliant political consultant and tactician who Bush calls "Boy Genius." Where did Rove come from and how has he engineered his candidates' victories? Even more important, what does he want? In Boy Genius, two seasoned political reporters who know Rove from his many, fruitfully manipulative years as a political consultant in Texas and a nationally known White House correspondent fill readers in on the man and his methods. From running a dirty tricks school and bugging his own office, to masterminding the defeat of popular Governor Ann Richards in Texas, to seeing and harnessing the potential in George W. Bush ("Political hacks like me wait a lifetime for a guy like this to come along," Rove said of the future President), to the master plan for the 2002 elections, Dubose, Reid and Cannon detail Rove's ascendancy to the top of our national political life, illuminating along the way both the dirty underside of politics and Rove's vision for who should be governing our country and how. Boy Genius is a fascinating, entertaining look at the political life of the Man Who Would Be Kingmaker-and a disconcerting expose about exactly how American politics works.
