Blacks voting for smirk out of perversity |
|
this mornings Wash. Journal (c-span) had a call in section for blacks only. wanting to know why they are voting for smirk or Kerry. many of the blacks voting for smirk had the same talking point: I don't like bush but I'm voting for him because he broke it and he should fix it.
so many of them said this same thing that I'm wondering if this is some talking point given to them in some way?
whatever makes them think smirk will fix anything. there is no logic to this. it's perverse.

that a sizeable number of blacks will vote for * and my fellow DU'ers challenged me on this. For sure, the blacks that will vote for * are in the minority (pun in there somewhere) but (a clear majority) won't.
Most notably some well-to-do blacks and Christian radical types will pull that fateful lever or cast the evil electronic vote (which will probably vote for * no matter who they intended to vote for) for W. Anyway they will think they have done the correct thing by voting for *.
Unbelievable.

2. The only thing I can think of is that they, like some of us here, |

aren't sure that just 4 years of Bush is enough to drive the neocons back into the oblivion from whence they came. After all, the Bushies are still blaming Clinton for stuff, and Smirky has had 4 years! But if we suffered for 8 years under these loons, even the dimmest fool (well, some of them anyway) would be able to figure out these people are a disaster. The democrats would have a bigger mess to clean up, that's for sure, but at least few people would blame them for the steps they would have to take to clean up.
Having said that, I am not sure that the country can survive another 8 years of these monsters, so I am voting for Kerry and hoping that we can win at least one piece of Congress back.

I have already voted for Kerry and firmly believe that I have not wasted my vote. BUT I could see that another serving of Bush may be what it takes to make the complacent awake enough to take action. I am not saying I want or prefer riots in the streets, but if Furious George and his group of thugs do manage to rove their way back into the white house, all bets are off.

that before he invaded Iraq. I still don't get the logic, though. I think Jon Stewart said it best, "If someone drives you into a ditch, why would you think they know how to get you out of there?"

6. Powell wasn't saying that shrub deserved 4 more years if he "broke" Iraq |
|
and the U.S. He meant that the U.S., as a country, had responsibility for what happened subsequently in Iraq if we went in and "broke" it. Has nothing to do with shrub being reelected.

I didn't mean to imply that his comment had anything to do with Shrub's reselection... sorry if I wasn't being clear.

AA activist--she usually does a lot of organizing, canvassing, registering etc. On election day, she typically rents buses and brings people to the polls from the inner cities. This year, she has been so disspirited that she quit working on the campaign about a month ago and hasn't done anything to help us since. I hope the 527s do their job, because some of the people we have counted on for years are not doing anything to help.
BTW, she used to post here--as Lottie ??something??? but I can't find any posts by her--was she tombstoned?

13. I just saw a black man from FLORIDA on MSNBC... |

saying he's leaning towards smirk because when he says something he sticks to it. Just the phrase 'black man in Florida' makes me want to scream that he would even consider voting for that schmuck! :kick:

14. last poll I glimpsed... |
|
had blacks at 88% for Kerry.. I am not seeing increase in black support for bush ---I am hearing some disturbing why bother-ism conversations... Butjust like I questioned the women's polls a few weeks back--I question the ones that show some kind of black marked flight to Bush---I don't see it...

15. Well, stupid is as stupid does |
|
Whites don't have the market cornered on stupidity and bad voting decisions. "He broke it, let him fix it" is not the dumbest reason that I've heard, but it is as bad as every other stupid, uninformed "reason" out there, like "He is God's man" and "we haven't had another terrorist attack, have we?" yada, yada.
I guess Blacks are entitled to be stupid, too. The fact that 90% voted for Gore says more about how stupid White people are, IMO.
