Ridiculing get-out-the-vote efforts
right when the NYT story on the great advantage democrats had over republicans in voter registration, I began to see people on TV mocking the efforts to get people to participate in our democracy.

Off the top of my head, I recall Andy Rooney on "60 Minutes", Lou Dobbs on CNN, and most recently, the "South Park" creators.

They're scared...

1. What's to mock?
How can you mock adding hundreds of thousands of voters who support your candidate?

2. A lot of media also ridiculed and downplayed importance of debates too
The debates were described as sterile non-events that would not reveal anything new and be a waste of time for viewers. The pundits were proven wrong when even under his own stringent rules, Bush turned out to be an underprepared, unpredictable loose cannon while Kerry would get an impressive bounce.

My local (Sinclair owned) news channel this morning had a story about the Democratic canvassing and voter registration efforts last weekend, but they made sure to counter it with remarks from a Republican activist belittling the Democrats' efforts.

3. Didn't one of the repugs say
that we're trying to cheat by getting more people out to the polls? That's falling-down funny, except for the part about destroying our democracy! :(

4. In general
Dem's want to get more and more people out to vote.
Rethug's want to suppress as many voters as they can.

What really pisses off the right is that someone like Bill Gates, who has thousands of employees, owns hundreds of software titles that run on 90% of the computers on this planet.......only has ONE vote.

think about that.

5. Someone takes part in Democracy and helps others to do the same
and these people can't stand it.
They act like it is a right reserved for the elite.
Pisses Me Off and will make me work that much harder.
I hope they know that!
